Anyone got an Aromamizer Supreme and a Boreas?
I've got two SS and one black Boreas; two SS and two black Supremes. After using them for about two weeks now (minus the black Boreas that just came in last week), I think I've tested them long enough to give my

. Not surprisingly, the vape is similar as they're similar in design - it's mostly little details that set them apart for me.
A bonus to the Supreme is the top fill design... it's just better than the Boreas. I know several people feel that having the JFC/AFC locked together is a fine design, but I'm in the camp of preferring them to be separate. The reason is that I like being able to shut off the JFC, take a few vapes to clear out the excess juice before filling. In my experience, this helps ensure I have no leaking. I'll usually take 3 - 5 vapes and it will just be at the point I can tell the flavor starts to drop. I close the AFC, double check the JFC (because I've accidentally moved it turning the AFC), then unscrew the top. Here's where another bonus for the Supreme comes into play - I have zero bubbles rise up when I unscrew the top. On both the SS Boreas, it will still allow some bubbles to rise... seems that shutting the JFC/AFC doesn't give it a 100% closed seal - I've just instantly gone to bottom fill on the black Boreas. Even with quite a bit of rayon (and using the small hole deck), it allows enough juice to the deck that it seeps around the JFC/AFC ring/holes. Filling the Boreas from the bottom removes this issue and works great, but the top fill nod goes to the Supreme.
I think the machining on the Supreme is just a tiny bit better, at least with the ones I've received. On the AFC, one of the SS has a catch going from the 3 to 4 hole position. I took some sandpaper and tried smoothing out the inside of the AFC ring and it seems to have helped and it's not quite so aggravating. The black and other SS are completely smooth. I prefer the overall resistance of the AFC on the Boreas than the Supreme. Once condensation builds on the Supreme, the AFC just seems a little too loose - a slight bump can move it so my OCD has me checking it repeatedly. Luckily, the JFC on the Supreme has a better resistance than it's AFC, but overall for resistance, the nod is to the Boreas. One of the black Supremes seems to keep a better resistance on the AFC, so swapping out the o-rings may improve the other Supremes.
I'd have prefered some kind of knurling on the top cap for removal. The OCD doesn't like leaving anything loose, so the cap has to be snug and it can be a pain removing it. On my SS, I took a gun file and went around the edge of the cap - sitting side by side with the wife's SS, it's almost undetectable, but it really improved the unscrewing of the cap. However, this all became a moot point when I switched to bottom fill, but still... nod to Supreme for knurling.
Then there's the issue of the deck o-rings breaking... there's really no excuse for that. It was a poor choice in the o-ring supplier and I think a full 1 mm o-ring is too large. On all 3 that I've received, the keyed area of the deck that forces it to sit in line with the air slots, doesn't fit quite right. If the o-ring hasn't already broke, it's being cut because it can't fully compress into the base. Even with juice or my normal Burt's bees wax, it doesn't fit correctly. Replacing it with the spare o-ring that's similar in size but about .25 mm smaller works great.
As to the actual air flow, the Boreas has a slight whistle at two holes open which is where I prefer to vape, so in the sound department, the nod would go to the Supreme. This is just a nit pick issue though and overall isn't important
for me as the 99% of my vape time is either at home or in a vehicle - running at 4 holes open the whistle is pretty much gone, but that's too airy for an ADV with my vape style.
As to flavor, earlier I said they were similar, but there is still a winner - and for me, that is absolutely the Boreas. The air flow on the Supreme seems slightly more turbulent than the Boreas. I'm not sure if that's causing the flavor in the Supreme to be slightly muted, but the flavor of the Boreas is just a bit better, almost a smoother flavor. These are all using the same DIY juice, same 26 awg NiFe coils coming in at .19 to .20 ohm, wicked as close to the same as I can make them... the only difference is air flow and design of the tank themselves.
So for me, I'd pick up the Boreas before the Supreme, not caring that I'll be bottom filling as I'm usually at home. If I'm on the road for a long trip, I'll first drain a Boreas and then switch to a Supreme. The wife prefers the Supreme for filling - and she couldn't detect any difference in flavor between the two, so it's all about usability for her.
I think they're both great tanks and each have areas where one can edge out the other, but at the end of the day, if I could only have one, it'd be the Boreas... but I'd still miss the Supreme.
I'm so thankful Roxy devoted her time and effort to help make such a great tank for nothing more than the love of the hobby... sad that it came at a such a high cost.
