I have a lot of clones if I am totally honest. They range from working as good as the originals to borderline dangerous. It all really depends on who made the clone and what the clone is copying. If you are going to start buying clones make sure you know well how they work in case you need to make repairs/tweaks.

So I've only recently gotten into mods and better vapes. I found out about clones and reviews that said they worked well but it seemed like the company could just post the review. Does anyone here have experience with a clone of a higher end tank or mod?

I have had less problems with clone atty's than authentics.

I am currently using three RTAs. the Silverplay Nano, Goblin Mini, Kayfun Monster Mini, and every one of them is a clone, and they work great.

Now mods I would spend a few extra$ for the authentic.

Do you know any reputable sites that sell good clones? Definitely interested in looking but the danger factor makes me think twice

Fasttech is one of the best. It takes a while but we'll worth the wait.

I bought two SXK Nebula Wine RTAs a week ago. Two days ago fasttech sent me an email that my SXK Nebula Wine RTAs were delayed till they got more in because the ones I had bought had failed inspection. Today I got another email that my RTAs had been shipped.

The bigger danger is from the mod. If you use poor quality batteries they can vent or explode.

I vape all the time in clones most of them from fasttech never an issue.

My mods are authentic, and my batteries are top shelf LG HG2 or Samsung25r

Yeah I'm about to order some Samsung 25r I've heard good things about them. I read somewhere that VTC5s were really good also. Anyone use them?
Both good 20A CDR cells. May work well for you depending upon the devise that you will be using them in.
  • Mech Mod: how low are you building?
  • Regulated: single/duel or triple battery box mod & how high a wattage you are planning to vape at?

Just ordered a 75w singelei box, single battery. I'm thinking wattage in the 20-40 range

Perfect for up to 50 watts (and a little higher).

Though if you knew you were not going to go higher than 50 watts, you could get one of these 20A 3000 mAh cells for longer battery life.
  • AW 3000 mAh 20A CDR
  • LG HG2 3000 mAh 20A CDR
  • Samsung 30Q 3000 mAh 20A CDR
You can use this guide by @Mooch should you ever wish to determine for another regulated mod: Calculating Battery Current Draw for a Regulated Mod.

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

I've used clone mechs in the past, Stingray, Caravela, 69, and Nemesis. Some are better than others, and I can't speak to how the authentics worked as I've not used those, but I'm sure they are very fine mechs. The clone of the 69 mod, the Sigelie 24 was pretty much crap. None of them comes anywhere near an authentic Poldiac in quality, beauty and function. I now have 4 authentic Poldiacs and would never buy another clone mech.

Kind of coming in late here, but look for sites that have both good and bad reviews. I purposely look for 1 star reviews, and see what they have to say. most of the time it's a fluke or user error. Fasttech is good about posting reviews whether good or bad. Some companies post only the good reviews. Sometimes, clones can be better than the original, and sometimes worse. It seems recently that the cloners have been listening to the customers, and sometimes improve on the design. Originals have come down in price, so the clones need to be better to compete. just do some research, and look at other's reviews before buying.

Clone coils can be hit or miss however. And if you do decide to order from Fasttech, remember the Spring Festival. Orders will soon stop shipping til it's finished.

We were talking about clone attys not coils.

You're quite right about getting something shipped during the festival

I would not look for the 1 star reviews. The person may be having a bad day, maybe he or she is angry because it took longer than normal for the parcel to arrive.

I would go through the reviews and find an average review.

If there are 16 5 star reviews and 4 1 star reviews and 80% us favorable. If the ratio was reversed I would not consider the product at all.

When things come 1/2 way around the world. Any number of things can happen. Delays or confiscations in customs.
Parcels being lost. Parcels getting torn in transit and not everything arriving and other things that can go wrong.

I always look at the negative reviews. Most of the time they are due to some kind of user error specially if the average review is good, but it's fairly easy to spot those specially if you know the technology.

I was looking for an inexpensive cordless drill/driver once. From the good reviews I already knew how the one I was looking at performed in use, but I got nothing on how long it was lasting people.

There were a few bad reviews, one titled 'Good while it lasted', just what I was looking for. It was from a contractor who put two battery charges through it daily. It wore out after 8 or 9 months and he was disappointed with that. I did the math and found he had put around 350 battery charges through it. I figured if it lasted me that long I would be good for over 25 years. I've had it for around 7 years now and though I've had to replace the battery once I'm still very happy with it. Don't know what I would have bought if I had not seen that review :)

Back on topic, I have both authentic and clone hardware. My regulated mods are all authentic and it's about a 50/50 split in attys. Clones are better these days, but I still find that a lot of the time I need to modify something to make them work better or to be dependable. Checking reviews on a site that publishes the bad reviews really helps.
