I would not look for the 1 star reviews. The person may be having a bad day, maybe he or she is angry because it took longer than normal for the parcel to arrive.
I would go through the reviews and find an average review.
If there are 16 5 star reviews and 4 1 star reviews and 80% us favorable. If the ratio was reversed I would not consider the product at all.
When things come 1/2 way around the world. Any number of things can happen. Delays or confiscations in customs.
Parcels being lost. Parcels getting torn in transit and not everything arriving and other things that can go wrong.
I always look at the negative reviews. Most of the time they are due to some kind of user error specially if the average review is good, but it's fairly easy to spot those specially if you know the technology.
I was looking for an inexpensive cordless drill/driver once. From the good reviews I already knew how the one I was looking at performed in use, but I got nothing on how long it was lasting people.
There were a few bad reviews, one titled 'Good while it lasted', just what I was looking for. It was from a contractor who put two battery charges through it daily. It wore out after 8 or 9 months and he was disappointed with that. I did the math and found he had put around 350 battery charges through it. I figured if it lasted me that long I would be good for over 25 years. I've had it for around 7 years now and though I've had to replace the battery once I'm still very happy with it. Don't know what I would have bought if I had not seen that review
Back on topic, I have both authentic and clone hardware. My regulated mods are all authentic and it's about a 50/50 split in attys. Clones are better these days, but I still find that a lot of the time I need to modify something to make them work better or to be dependable. Checking reviews on a site that publishes the bad reviews really helps.
