Even with extreme chain vaping, something seems off here. What charger do you use? I wonder if your charger is doing something that has shortened the life of the batteries. Have you checked the voltage of the freshly charged batteries? I believe they should be 4.2V when fully charged. Also, how long does it take to charge the batteries? I don't pay close attention, but I'd say my Pila charger takes around an hour for an 18350 battery.

I typically get the expected 7 hours on my AW 18350's. I rarely set my voltage over 4.4 volts with a 2.5 - 3.0 ohm carto.

About the only option besides AW is Efest, and I found them to not last as long as the AW's that I use in a rotation. I delegated them to life in a drawer, not worthy of the rotation.

I had been using a Pila until recently when one of the bays stopped working after over a year's use. Now using either an Xtar 6 bay charger or a Nitecore Intellicharger i4. (I have a LOT of batteries)

Has anyone found anything with more longevity than these batts? Nearly brand new, overnight charge, barely last an hour. Yes, I am heavy vaper. I clean all contacts weekly. I know I could use the extension & larger batts, but I feel the Provari large enough.

Only an Hour?

Unless your are Back-To-Back Chain Vaping at High Amps, there might be Something wrong with that Battery.

Or your Charger.

Or Both.

Interesting thread, I have my first mini headed my way and I plan on keeping it in a 18350 setup. I am a heavy vaper so it will be quite an adjustment and I will have to be more organized than ever with my batteries. I have two coming, and one good one already but I have a feeling that I will be ordering a lot more soon.

It's about the same for me, I was pleasantly surprised how long the little 350's last.

Baditude, just curious, when using a 3.2ohms smoktech carto, what voltage do you vape it on? I have been vaping mine at 4.7, too high?
It depends upon the flavor, actually. Fruits are best in the mid to upper 3 volt range. Coffee and tobacco are best in the lower 4 volt range. I very rarely go over 4.5 volts any more. But then, I prefer a cool vape.

Same here, 7-8 watt range depending on the rig, 4.7-4.9v for 3 ohm stuff but the key really lays with the complexity & richness of the juice in question. Most folks find the sweet spot by slowly increasing the voltage until it begins to taste burny then dropping it down a little.

Thanks for feedback Baditude and RedhatPat. However, I am confused. My 3.2ohms carto struggles to even fire up on my Provari at such low voltage. How are you able to vape in these cartos at such low volatage?

First of all, how many 3.0 ohm cartos are you basing this experience on? A single carto? Cartomizer quality can vary from carto to carto; you may have an underacheiving carto currently.

Other than that, considered on the whole, I don't have problems firing my 3.0 ohm cartos at the lower voltage ranges (3.5v - 4.5v). This is the voltage range that I use exclusively.

You may be an individual who prefers a warmer vape. Perhaps try a lower resistance carto (2.0 ohm) the next time you buy cartomizers.

Actually I am sorry, I didn't phrase it correctly. It's not the carto won't fire at low voltage, it's just that I feel the lack of power going through. At lower voltage I would have to take an extra 2 seconds in the draw than it would at higher voltage. Hope I described it correctly. But reading your other post, it is more likely my draw techique. I want that fast hard draw which is the wrong way to vape.

Lower voltages can take longer to heat up the juice to make vapor, so that might be what you are experiencing. Higher voltages heat up the coils faster, and therefore do not require as long of a draw. Maybe that helps.

Lower ohm heating coils heat up faster than higher ohm. Perhaps a low or standard ohm cartomizer will better fit your vaping style. The possible drawback would be lower ohm coils have a lower voltage limit.

The Safe Vaping Power Chart helps to understand this by the power of visual demonstration.

Interesting couple posts as I fiddle with my brandy new first VV/VW gizmo.
I'm finding more often that my "sweet spot" is LOWER than I thought it would be...
I mean, I DO have a lot of 1.8 ohm coils, as I'm still puffin regular Ego's too - but even with a 2.7, I found myself LOWERING from 8 watts to get where I wanted.
