Somewhere out there
ProVari Variable Voltage Ecig: Best Variable Voltage E Cig Available! Here is the battery I bought from ProVape on this page. It has a bump on the top of the positive side yes, but not the small raised bump on the edge like the protected AW do.

GLV-2 / GLV-3 Rechargeable Battery 2-Pack [GLV-BATTERY-2PK] - $16.00 : Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor
Ok here is the pic of protected AW batteries i use in my GLV, if you look closely at the positive end rim there is a small raised spot. I was told all protected batteries have that little raised spot on the rim, it is not the bump at the positive top.

I don't switch batteries in my PV's I use what is recommended for each one. But I see a difference in the AW proetced vs the safe chemistry AW batts. I also use the chargers recommended for each type. Maybe they can handle both but I don't risk it just incase :) bnrk

The real AW IMR's (RED) have a bump on top . You may have fakes if they dont. The protection part is not the bump on top . the protection is inside the wrapper and what makes the cell longer then a IMR.

I'm confused again. The cell of an IMR is longer than an IMR? Please explain. I really am just trying to figure this all out.

You have authentic batteries. There were some flat top IMR's floating around with AW sticker on them that were counterfit.

Here are the pics of the batteries you have:

Here is a pic of a flat top battery. This one is authentic, but AW doesn't make some models in flat top.

Yes the AW ICR protected batteries are usually a smidgen longer than the IMR batteries because of the protectin circuit.

You know with counterfit's roaming around it is really scarey looking for replacements. I will have to find more protected AW batts soon and I will have to find a place to get them that is reliable. Looks like Provape always has the AW IMR on hand so that is not a problem. bnrk

I think there was only a few vendors that had fake AW Batteries, and I think that only fake 18650 IMR's were floating around, but i am not 100% on this. Provape is definitely a reliable source, and there are several other reliable vendors for AW Batteries. PM Incoming.

Yes, I have the red battery, the first one pictured (and thanks for posting those pictures!) I was using that little red one on a mechanical ecig but boy do they work 100% better on the Provari Mini. Now explain that to me! :)

One mod is regulated and the other is not.

For places to get real AW's theres Provape, highdesertecigs,Rtdvapor,Supertmanufacturing.

Yes, it's that regulation that makes it vape consistently and powerfully too if you want. What I don't quite understand is why that battery lasts so much longer in the Mini than in the mechanical Mod.

It may also be due to the provari regulating the voltage, allowing you to use the mod until it reaches its cutoff voltage at 3.3v (i think). Where as the performance may be too low for your preference at say 3.6v in the mechanical mod.
