AW 18490 Battery is peeling, is that bad?

Almost looks melted, did you have any shorts with this battery?

At the end of the day how much is safety worth to you? Replace the battery, don't take chances, these batteries store a lot of energy.

A $10 Battery versus Burning down my House does sound like a Trade Off I want to consider.
