Hey Reoville, just wanted everyone's opinion. I'm definitely getting the new 2200 mah AW. Now, I wanna try button top as it's less throw & I've heard great things. The 2000 mah has max continuous of 10 & the 1600 mah is at 15. I chain, chain, chain vape around .40 ohms. Even though it's less ohms is the 1600 better choice as 10a is right on the border [seen a sticky w/ a chart somewhere]. Just curious if you use the 2000 & @ what ohm or will I be fine with both? Was gonna get couple Samsungs 25R but thinking I might just go with all AMs?!!? Also, what systems do you all use to rotate your batteries? I've only had a few up to now so haven't had to worry much. Just seeing what the most practical way is lol. Ty all

The 2200s are button top. Get those.

I do happen to occasionally use the 2000's, but it is not the best choice of batts for what we do. - I have been running .55 ohms, and I am willing to run my batts a little lower than most other folks (I'm pretty happy all the way down to ~3.5v)... but most everyone else like to swap them @ ~ 3.7 or 3.8... 3.6 at the lowest. I'm personally not that picky.

The 2200 is better on pretty much every level than the 2000. It has higher amp rating and higher mah rating. It is the better choice for sub-ohm.

Running at .4 ohms I would only run the 20A batteries, I like to stay about half the rated amps to what I am actually using from the battery. I over "rotate" my batteries even chain vaping which I do as well, I switch out about every four hours. Probably overkill but better to be safe than sorry in my humble opinion. I don't like to be "on the border".

Would still love to hear your battery rotation though

I own 3 REOs - one takes stacked 18350s - one takes 14500s - and the newest addition is a Grand... My battery rotation for the Grand is:

I have a pair of almost exactly 3 month old VTC5s. Every morning, one goes on the charger and the other one goes in my REO. --- That's pretty much my rotation, but I do have more to say.

I carry 2000 mah AW IMRs as spares for my flashlights (there's a pair in my work truck and a pair in my personal truck all the time)... and have occasionally used one in my REO Grand when I got caught out working overnight and in to the next day. I also have one purple efest around here somewhere that has been used twice or maybe three times in my REO. It worked just fine for what I need.

IMR batts don't last forever even if they aren't being used and going through a bunch of charge/discharge cycles. They degrade over time and even if you sealed up a brand new one today and put it in the fridge, a couple of years from now it will probably be no good. So, I don't stock and rotate a bunch of IMR batteries. I keep what I need on hand and just a couple of spares. --- That's also true for my VV Woodville. I never have more than 3 sets of 18350s around for it. I order new ones when a battery set starts to show its age. -- I prefer the AW Black Li-On 14500s for my REO Mini and do have some unused spares maybe a year and a half old or older in the fridge... They'll be just fine even if I don't need them for another year or two or maybe even more. ..... So, all that said: If I had another Grand, I'd probably either get a pair of AW IMR 2200 for it, or perhaps a pair of LG HE2's (I like the VTC5s I use in my existing Grand just fine, but they are currently hard to obtain). All I want around for IMR batts is what I will use regularly plus a spare or two... For my particular needs, my spares serve dual purpose. They're good enough for my vaping in a pinch and really pretty good for my flashlights.

Sure do, I have 4 batteries 2-20 amps and 2-30 amps with one of each marked with a red dash with a permanent marker. And I rotate them in and out, I usually keep the 30 amps for my mech and the 20's for my Reo. I also have a dual battery case for each pair to keep them in order. It's probably overkill but it makes me feel comfortable on whatever I am vaping at the moment.

Edit: I have a lot of free time on my hands can you tell. Oh well, the vapes are awesome. :p

I have 4 to 6 batteries of each size I use. I just keep them in battery boxes, and rotate top to bottom, left to right.
Meaning next one to use is top case, right slot and one fresh off the charger goes bottom box, left slot...

Also - I cannot remember where, but I know i have read that the 2000 mah AW not only has lower specs, but also a drain curve that makes the 1600 preferable for use in any mech. Like it drops immediately and runs a long time at 3.6 or something...just guessing, I don't remember the details, just a FIRM recommendation to get the other one. Now that the 2200 is here, that's of interest (but I have an HE2 and a 25R on the way, so I'm set for a little while).

Judging by the way you run your batteries, you and I would get along just fine talking vape shop over some JITB. :D

AW IMR are great super safe batteries but a little pricey for me. Samsung 25R’s (20amp) are also great batteries and can be had for under $8. If you’re not vaping under .2ohm, the 25R’s actually get slightly longer battery life than the Sony VTC5 in all the tests I've read on them. They're not button top but I don't have enough thumb finesse to notice the throw difference. Bottom line is both batteries are very good and safe in our devices and worthy of being in rotation. I number all my batteries with a fine marker and cover with magic tape. I have a lot of 18650's to keep track of between the Reo, regulated mods and flashlights! I store them in my tackle box trays and use the plastic boxes that hold two batteries when I carry them in my pocket.

I keep my (4) batteries (for TWO Reonauts, so 8 batteries total) in plastic battery cases. I number and date each one when purchased, with a Sharpie, then wrap scotch tape around the battery to keep it from smearing, wearing off. I then use them in strict order, 1, 2, 3, 4, then back to 1. I switch them out once a day, at around 3.9v. Doing this, I had a set of 15 AW IMR's (1600's and 2000's), some as old as August 2011, that I recently figured had served my REOs well, so I retired them to flashlight duty. I don't expect the new ones to last quite that long, since I have fewer of them, but my guess is they're good for at least 2 years, maybe more.

I recommend to run at 50% of the batteries amp limit for best in safety in a mechanical. I would not exceed 70% of the rating leaving you 30% for overhead. So .6 is the highest recommended (7amps) for a 10amp battery and that's as low as I would go. The 15 amp is the better choice but might as well go 20amp+. The will hold up better with the higher drain from subohm.

I have a pair of batteries for each mod I label them #1 and #2 with the date, and a 2 batt box for each pair I stick a label with the date purchased on the box. When I swap the batt in the box goes to the mod. I charge the spent ones and they go to the box when done while they wait their turn.

I have been using the orbtronic sx22 22amp and 2000mah I usually get a full day on them at .7-.8 going down to around 3.7 when they hit the charger.

I think the OPs questions were answered... so I hope I won't offend by dragging this thread off topic.

Several people mentioned the use of battery boxes, and I think it's likely most of us use them. I'm going to drag this thread off topic to mention a couple of battery containers that are worth thinking about if you ever store batts in the fridge or to carry places you might get wet... or face extreme conditions.

The first one is a 2 X 18650 box that is waterproof. The link I provided is a high price... they can be found for less on ebay, amazon, etc. - It's built like snapware. The lid snaps down on 4 sides (takes a few uses to break in) and there is a silicone gasket in the lid that seals the lid down watertight. They are actually just a tad long (less than a quarter inch) for 18650s so they do slide side to side a bit if in transport... but the extra length is nice because it affords a near perfect fit for 4 X 18350s and also easily accommodates even the largest protected button top 18650s.

The other one is expensive... I only know of one source. The 1 X 18650 Delrin or 1 X 18650 aluminum battery lockers are spendy... 24 bucks for the basic delrin without the compass and thermometer... 38 bucks for the 7075 aluminum locker with the extras. These aren't for everyone... I am in no way suggesting spending more than 2X or almost as much as 5X the amount your best batt cost you unless you actually have a need for such a thing. The delrin and aluminum lockers are for folks who plan to get wet - fall down - drop their pack - throw their pack - maybe get drug downstream in a river - or just generally need gear that can take a serious beating.

I have some of those in your first link and they are nice for carrying in my pocket especially if I drop some change or keys in there.
