Baaaah! Trying to Rebuild a MINI Vivi Nova w/ SS Mesh

I had some 32 gauge NiCrome wire I almost tossed out. Then I thought eh, I'll rebuild some Mini Nova heads w/ mesh...

Such a pain; clearances are super tight.


Now I have no problem rebuilding my DID clone and my Nova heads w/ silica wick. I imagine rebuilding the nova with a cotton wick would be equally as simple but for the life of me I can't wind a decent coil on stainless mesh and make it all fit.



Over tinkering, tomorrow I'm gonna pull the trigger and order a Short DID and Precise+ 18350.

I can certainly imagine trying to do a mesh wick in a VVN would be...uh...challenging, to say the least.

I tried the mesh U wick in the VVN as well. Such a pain to get the wire in the right places without having hot legs, or having it short out on the walls. I gave up on it as well.

I've seen it done one a standard size Nova.

Problem I'm having on the Mini is coil reads ~1.8 (sweet!) rebuilt, head on the post; then I slide the tank on and coil comes back < 1 ohm, like .6 (NOT sweet).

Anyways, I over that noise. Hahaha

For SS wick on VN or miniVN, it's best if you file down the slits to accommodate a fatter SS wick. To avoid shorts/hot spots, I would recommend giving this tutorial a try.

Cedric- thanks! Ill give it a shot. Prob not tomorrow tho... Then again, Super T's lead time ~ 3 weeks..

I would like to ditch silica all together and I'm not fully ready to shelf my mini VVN's.
