Well here i am vaping happily in 2012. I have been lurking the ECF forum for a while and learning all i can. I made the mistake of buying a proprietary ecig kit in 2010, i promptly returned it for a much more satisfying kr808 from v4l. However shortly after starting my vape journey i started having horrible chest pain. After a few doctor visits and scary trips to the ER i started on the analogs again. Of course i eventually got diagnosed with Chostochondritis, and found that it had absolutely nothing to do with vaping and everything to do with lifting heavy things at work. And it flares up everytime i do too much.

In 2011 i tried the patch system twice. No dice, i felt horrible about myself and was sick of smelling like a dirty ashtray. It's bad when you smell so strongly of a cigarette that coworkers think you're smoking in the bathroom. Well im am grateful for this forum, because i learned about the Ego XL's and custom eliquids and i became excited and started ordering. Around Christmas last year i took it up again and am so glad i did. My new year resolution was to switch completely and i have done so mostly. I had a few cravings in January, but i can count on my fingers the number of cigarettes ive had this year. And i havent touched one in weeks, and have no desire to do so. I had to up my nic to 24 mg for a while but ive gotten back down to 12 mg and am so happy! It's taken awhile and quite a bit of money but its so worth it, and to think my pack of day habit cost me around $180 a month so im about even.

I don't get winded as much anymore climbing stairs. In the morning theres no tar to hack up. The neatest thing that happened , i was vaping Ms T's snickerdoodle one day, and one of my coworkers said i smell like buttercream frosting. So much better than an ashtray. And no chest pain whatsoever. It's a great year. :)

I'm so glad you kept at it. Getting off tobacco is one of the most wonderful gifts you can give yourself. But it is so damn hard! I've been trying for years to quit, and with the help of vape I think I may actually lick it this time.

You are doing a wonderful thing, as are all of us here. And even when you slip or relapse for awhile, you can still be proud of all those cigarettes you did not smoke.

It is nice to not smell like an ashtray, isn't it? :toast:

I so understand you.

Unlike cigarettes, e-liquids have actual, honest-to-God flavor to go with their nicotine—but no stink, no carcinogens worthy of mention.

But something's missing. Something your mind can't identify, but your body is unwilling to let you completely forget. Somewhere in that 4000+ laundry list of noxious chemicals that incinerated tobacco produces, there's a few—nicotine aside—that the beast within craves.

The memory of them will never go away. But it'll fade, and become very manageable.

Welcome to the ECF! Congrats on sticking with it... it is so worth it! Having been down the patch, gum, cold turkey mess too many times in the past (with absolutely no success...) I can identify with you. Fortunately for me vaping has been it! Without ecigs and this forum I never would have made it this time! I feel lucky and want to give everyone who has kicked the stinkies here via vaping a virtual "high five".

Keep it up... it get's easier and the positive changes that your body goes through just make it better!

That is a great story to a new start. I remember the first time after getting into vaping that I could smell another smoker just getting done coming in from outside having one. It was incredibly strong and thought WOW I DON'T smell like that anymore - that was terrible.
I want to be able to say forever more - I've kicked the .......!
