Hey everyone!

I was on here a while back and used e-cigs for about 2 months. I ran in to a lot of problems towards the end. Had tons of issues with atties and kept getting a sore throat, my throat hits were always too harsh for me. I'm ready to give things another try; but I have no idea where to start... what to try.

Before I used a 510; I did try carto's and they worked well for me... considering trying those. I'm wondering if I'd have better luck with a diff model or something. I'm still not sure why I had the problems I had. Any ideas?

Thanks!

What type of liquid were you using? Maybe you should use a liquid with a higher VG ratio than some standard liquids; that cuts down on the throat hit.

I use the Vapor King KR808D-1 from Vapor4Life and I love it. I also see rave reviews for the Volt and the Bloog, so they're all good bets if you like using cartomizers.

Welcome back!

I use the volt and love it. It has a nice warmth to it, decent size, price and the cartos are simply fantastic. The only downside is battery life which is always going to be the case until batteries are improved in general.

If you liked the 510, the ego or riva is a little fatter but lasts a lot longer so it's a longer lasting solution. If you go with the ego/riva it's a 510 connection so you can get 510 cartos like the boge carto or any 510 carto. If you go for something like the volt there's volt/bloog cartos or boge 808 cartos or any other 808 carto for that matter.

For your throat, try a higher VG ratio in your juice and lower nic. I vape all VG because it's less drying and easier on my throat. My body doesn't agree with 100% PG either. Keep your fluids up and I chew chewing gum a lot which really helps keep my throat moist.

The harshness may come from to much PG in the mix, or too high of a nic content. If you still have the 510, order some blank cartomizers, and order some juice from a vendor who will custom blend the PG/VG ratio. I recommend FreedomSmokeUSA to start for the juice.

If you have been away from E-cigs and ECF for a while, there have been a lot of new developments in PV's since 2009. Most notable is the introduction of the larger battery models like the Joye Ego. The battery life has been extended to about 6 or 8 hours. A great improvement over the original 510.

Often a bad atty/battery combo will give harsh hits because it doesn't vaporize the nicquid effectively. Gunked up atties will do this too.

1) Use a sufficient battery / atty combo. This is the thing that requires some experimentation on your part.
2) Blow out the atty twice per day. Clean it when necessary.

Also
3) Check for "food" sensitivities. Try some unflavored in 100% VG, or 100% PG at your nic level.
4) Cut nic down if you can. More VG = smoother, more PG = more TH
5) Change oms on atty/carto to like 2.5 or 2.0 ohms for 3.x volt stuff
6) Make a nicostick or buy a 3.7 volt unit.
7) Try switching juice vendors too.

The Johnson Creek Red Oak line is very smooth with a whole lot of satisfying vapor production. It's 100% VG and also great right out of the bottle, no steeping required. I haven't found anyone that doesn't like the Tennessee Cured flavor yet. If you are a Menthol fan you can adjust the throat hit somewhat by adding menthol extract.

i really would recommend going with a 3.7v device and a WIDE variety of juice (you just cant get "into" vaping unless you got good juice)

i say skip the "cigarette looking pvs" and even egos because im sure this will be the last draw for you... so you want a well performing device regardless how it looks (you can always go for the ego/riva *after if u like)

then go with dual coil cartomizers OR boge cartomizers. those two seem to be the most popular.. from what i hear the dual coils are almost impossible to get that "burnt filler" taste...so i would go with that

@ nocturn.....what is a 3.7v device?.....I am a noobie too, and when Vetern, or Super members post to the newcomers, please say what that is . That would eliminate sooooo much confusion. When I see something like that, then I am off on a 'search' for 3.7v . Soooo much time equals frustration equals....just giving up.

most 3.7v are Kr808D1 models IIRC. such as Vapor4Life, Bloog, and the Volt.

Imbt01 I use the Maxi Roughstack V2 with a 3.7 volt battery and a smoketech low res atomizer. My juice is 80vg 20pg, and MadVapes can mix anything you want...(I am not affiliated with MadVapes, I just live down the street from their warehouse). This setup is awesome for me, I don't want a big throat hit and they will let you test out the product to see if you like it.

ah no problem.

"mods" are called that because they use bigger batteries. mods are typically categorized as either 3.7volts, 5v, 6v, and variable volts.

3.7v is the most friendly and is the most common with a huge variety to pick from.

the mods that are 3.7v use batteries ranging from typically 14500 (smallest 3.7v battery) to 18650 (biggest 3.7v battery). the higher the number...the longer the battery will last before charging. (the bigger the number..the more "mah" the battery contains.. the higher the mah, the longer it lasts)

so now you need to pick a "style" for your 3.7v mod. they typically come in tube style or box style. i would say maybe go for the tube style for now because they look nice

theres.so many to choose from that it can get overwhelming...the popular smaller 3.7v i can think of off the top of my head are "puresokers icon or prodigy"...while a bigger one (uses 18650 battery) can be "altsmokes omega or silver bullet"

dont get overwhelmed at the choices because theyre all the same thing really..a housing for the battery. youre really going to pick 1) how big a battery you want depending on how long u want it to last 2) how it looks.

a common google tip i use is to put this in google:

"site:www.e-cigarette-forum.com <phrase here>"

so for example

"site:www.e-cigarette-forum.com best 3v device"

im on the cell but feel free to ask more questions..but that google line above lets me answer every question that comes to.mind.

Thanks everyone! I decided to give the Lea a try. I after searching around the forum at the reviews. It looks like just what I've been looking for, I ordered some juices from that company and going to order some samples elsewhere. I tried a lot of juices before, vaped for 2 months. I'm not giving up this time.

On nic level, I generally always used a lower level; I found that I vaped more than I smoked, regardless of level and did OK at a lower level.
