I joined this wonderful forum about 4 years ago. The terminology of vape equipment and vaping was thoroughly confusing to me but I persevered and before long I could read and speak it with the best of 'em.

Fast forward to today. I stopped my hunt for the perfect vaping equipment once I found what works for me. I have been happy with my single coil evod/protank type heads that work well and are simple to rebuild. Since these coils work with various toppers I am in my happy place. Spinners and istick 30's have all the power I need to push my choice of coils.

Now that I have found what works for me I haven't kept up with all the new offerings and terminology so most of what I am reading today goes right over my head. Am I the only one that feels like they are back to the beginning ?/?/?

I wouldn't say your alone. I use my mini protanks daily. Rebuilt heads with twisted 32 coming in at 1-1.3 ohms. Vape them at 3.8 volts on my provari.

I have a few other setups too that I like to use.

My Subtank mini I have the RBA with twisted 28 3mm id 5 wraps comes out to about .7-.8 ohms and vape it at 22 watts on an ipv mini 2 which I am going to retire soon once my evic vt mini gets here.

My Goliath V2 I have a dual coil with 26 Kanthal 2.5 id 6 wraps comes out at .35 ohms and vape it at 45 watts on ipv3 li.

My Velocity I have a dual coil with 24 gauge 3mm id 6 wraps comes out to .25 and vape it at 60 watts or if I wanna be crazy 80 watts. Also use my ipv3 li for this.

My subtank mini and mini protanks always go with me to work. I "stealth vape" with the mini protanks inside and go outside to use the subtank mini.

At home I usually just puff away on the Goliath V2. I rarely drip but like to do it every here and there.

Guess what I'm saying is all vaping styles have their place, and I like them all :D

Please don't take what I am saying as putting down what others do. I am just saying that the terminology has changed so much lately, it is pretty much a new language to me now, much like it was when I first joined this forum. :D

I completely understand how the tech can move so fast that you feel like a babe in the woods. After a few years of working and not keeping up, computer equipment has changed so much that just the reading of current info is like taking a second job. Hang out at ECF a little more and you'll be back up to speed. Welcome back.

hehehehehe, thing is, I have been here every day all day ever since I hopped on this ride but new stuff is coming out so fast I can't keep up.

I still stand by that the Protank mini is a solid little clearomizer. Very well built and good quality. Same as the subtank mini it's just got such a good build quality I quite like Kanger products.

I started with Evods but moved on because they are plastic and were starting to leak on me. It's why I moved on to mini protank because I wanted a nice compact system like the Evods that would stand the test of time with proper care. I have 4 that I rotate all the time and use daily. Not a hiccup in one of them. Threading is good as it ever was and they perform amazing!

I totally agree. I have moved past the original evods and replaced them with evod glass, mini trophy (glass), mini davide's (glass) and I really like the Smok ARO 2 even though they have plastic tanks. I am set for the rest of my life since I have several of each color and rebuild the heads for all of them. They all use the same heads so work perfect for me.

That is awesome.

I also have 5 more mini protanks that are sealed for when mine eventually fail. I have a good 20-30 unused coils also. I think the piece of the coil that will wear out the most is the silicone insulator. Unfortunately they only place I have been able to find them is lightning vapes and if you ask me it's just a ridiculous price for what the item is.

I am going to hold out and keep searching in hopes of finding a different place to acquire them. Thing that sucks is that once these clearomizers are outdated it will be hard to find parts at all for them, so can't wait to long to pull the trigger on the insulators.

I ended up buying the insulators from lightenvapes. I tried to find the place he gets his so I could buy them in bulk amounts but couldn't find them. :( Some of mine have been taken apart so many times the chimney has gotten to loose so had to discard them but I have so many of them it isn't a problem having to toss one every now and then.

That hasn't happened to mine yet. Maybe just squeezing the base cup with some pliers might do the trick?

Anyhow ya I think I might just end up buying them from lightning vapes eventually. It just irks me that if they were sold on say somewhere like fasttech could get 100 of them for $2. Probably why lightning vapes sells them so high, they know they are the only place to get them.

I tried to do that and it just broke the wing off :D

Yep, they are the only place to get them as far as I can tell. :(

If you have been rebuilding protank type coils, you can try the upgrade to the kanger subtank mini which has coil heads designed for rebuilding:

get a 10pack of the rebuildable heads and you're set for life:

Don't get me wrong, I think the STM is a fantastic tank. But nothing beats the portabilty/pocket friendliness of a mini protank or evod style clearomizer.
