I'm not having much luck moving 'up' from clearomizers.

I recently got into carto-tanks & I love the first tank, best vape I've had by far. It's fantastic. But I can't seem to get a carto (Boge pre-punched standard 510) to last me over a tank or two & the flavor goes FLAT! No burnt taste & I still get good vapor, just no flavor. YUK! Shouldn't cartos last a lot longer than this??

I have a couple of VVN Minis & the draw has really stiffened & the flavor is very muted from both. I've boiled em, dry burned the coil, even tried a new atty w/no improvement. Any ideas what else I might try to fix these??

I'm growing weary of fiddling w/this crap & just want the best vape possible, but alas, I have a carto punch on the way so I haven't given up. In the meanwhile I'm back to using the lowly vision clearos...and even they're not working real good. Man, smoking sure was a lot easier.

Any ideas will be appreciated but thanks for letting me vent a little frustration.

Well I am using Bobas I a clearo & it's working ok. I used different juices thru the VVN & cartotank. The issues are similar but not exactly the same. I maintain a good easy draw thru the carto vs the draw stiffening thru the vivi. And the cartotank always starts out fantastic, I can't get the vivi to work right at all now. How long should a carto last in a tank? Surely longer than mine are. Maybe I just need to keep worki g at that. But the vivis have me stumped ...I don't know anything else I can do to them.

It's good that the Boba's is working in a clearo for you. It can be a troubling juice to wick. It's not so much that it is an extremely thick juice, but it also has a lot of tiny particulate matter suspended in the juice. These tiny particles do not get wicked by the strings or polyfiber in tanks well, so they tend to concentrate in the liquid or clog the filler or wicking materials.

That's what I figured out with my Boba's. No matter how many holes I put into the carto in my Boba's tank, it really didn't matter, because after about one tankful, the filler in the carto got so clogged that it began to lose flavor and get a very stiff pull.

I've been using Ikevape cartos for 3-4 months and they have better taste and last longer than the brand I was using before. The punched versions are often out of stock, so you likely will need to get a punch tool should you decide to try these. I typically get a couple weeks of regular use from a single carto in a tank, + or - a week depending upon the juice.

As I pointed out to you in our PM conversation, I spent $5-6 a day on smokes. If spending $2 every two days on a carto can keep me off of the smokes, then it's worth it to me.

Seems like it could be a juice issue. Two different types of delivery systems and having the same issue?

What is the juice? Flavor and PG/VG ratio. Please don't say it is Boba's.

I thought the same exact thing, either a juice issue or he is just burnt out on that flavor and it will taste muted regardless of what he's using. Seems odd it would be muted on both a carto-tank and a vivi nova at the same time.

OP,

Unless you are using a super dark juice (which evidently you are) cartos should last more than a few tank fulls. I generally get at least 30mils of juice through a single carto before I even think about changing it, but I also use rather clear juices.

I'm a little confused on how the vivi nova's draw could be getting tighter... especially if you replaced the coil head and still have this issue. The airflow on a carto gets tighter as it's used because the airflow goes through the inside of the coil, and as it gets gunked up the air path is narrower.

The vivi nova has airflow coming up through the center tube, and then it flows around the coil into the drip tips. A really really gunky coil could take up so much space in the coil head that it reduces airflow, but if you replace the coil head, or clean/dryburn the coil, then there wouldn't be anything to block the airflow. Are you sure you aren't just thinking it feels different for some reason, kinda like a placebo type situation? I just can't imagine how a nova would tighten up after use even with a clean coil + wick.

Thanks Bad, you're exactly right. I just loaded up a fresh carto/tank & there ain't nothing like it!! If the cartos don't last, oh well - it's an amazing vape while it lasts!! And still cheaper'n smoking.

UncleChuck, I agree completely. It has me dumbfounded. I thought it was the coil too because w/out it the draw is very open But even with a brand new one it is very restricted. I'm at a loss.
