I wanted to post this because I think it's important for people to read before ordering any of these.

I hope it's ok I said the name of the manufacturer...I don't like infractions :(

I purchased apx. 30 Smoktech cartos from two different vendors and they all tasted like chemicals/cleaning solution before I boiled and flushed them. I thought it was maybe just me and my tastebuds but I just got my 15 deal pack of Boges today and they taste great.

Edit: I titled the thread wrong. It should just say bad batch of Smoktech cartos going around. It isn't just the LR 1.7 ohm cartos. Smoktech changed their filler

So I e-mailed a vendor to give them a heads up about these cartos because I really like the vendor and don't want them to be selling things that might be defective. I received a reply back about how and why Smoktech has changed their filler. That would make sense why they taste bad!

I don't think it's an electric issue. The Smoktech rep told the vendor I contacted that they changed the filler (so actually I have no idea if it's even the same polyfill) to create a more dense faster wicking material? It sounds like they made a bad decision! I'm just glad I found out why they all tasted bad and am hopefully able to help other people from wasting their money like I did.

It's amazing to me that they would go into mass production with a filler material that tastes like crap. Did anyone at Smoktech actually try one before they made the big switch?

And speaking of switches ... Smoktech really needs to get their stuff together. All that mess about the e-Power switches, some of which couldn't be used with LR attys??? Who wants a 3.7V device that can't run LR? And now the 5 volt Woo, which should have been a "killer app", hamstrung and scorned by an intermittently sticking button and being shipped with unprotected batteries. Really pretty unbelievable. Is it really that hard to design a proper switch? I still love my Woo - vaping it right now - but it could have been a home run instead of a bloop single (or maybe a foul ball).

Hey - to the OP - could you please go ahead and tell us exactly which vendors you got the bad ones from? And to anyone reading this thread, could you please chime in and help us all get a handle on whether this problem is expanding to the entire Smoktech line of cartos? Thanks.

Hmmm.... were these dual or single coils? I use the 2.0 ohm DCs and love them but stocked up awhile back. I will have to keep an eye on things before ordering anymore. Thanks for the heads up.

Mine were single but I'm not sure what everyone has been buying recently (there were a few others who had the same complain in different threads). I'm glad you stocked up! You're very welcome :)

Yeah it's expanding to the entire Smoktech line of cartos. I got a couple boxes of cartos from CCV and a couple boxes of cartos from MadVapes. I also know of someone who ordered them from a different vendor and had the same problem but I forget the name of the vendor they used. Everyone who has had this problem seems to have just recently bought the cartos. It's good to know why they were tasting so bad! It's always good to know so that I don't try buying them from another vendor again! That's why I bought the next pack from CCV because I thought only MadVapes were carrying the yucky tasting cartos.

I just remembered I bought the LR 1.7 cartos/resurrector and the 2.0 ohm cartos. I better change the name of this thread. (Oops I can't )

Okay. I am glad to hear that. Not glad for the folks that like the single coil but I am hopefull that they have not messed with my beloved dual coil. I will certainly try to confirm that the duals were not effected before ordering more.

We have honestly been through 100s of the dual coils and maybe had had 2-3 duds :)

So maybe it just the single coil...hmm?

How long have you been vaping them tricci?

The ReNew cartos are single coil. I have been vaping on them for 2 full days will 100% VG juice at 5 volts and they are great. No burning, no off taste. I don't know if the ReNew are just simply renamed SmokTechs or if Bruce at Clouds of Vapor has Smoktech make them to his specifications. I'll let you know if anything changes, but so far so good.

I'm glad you got a good batch! I haven't heard good reviews from the people who have ordered them recently. I don't think I've heard the Clouds of Vapor vendor mentioned yet. The other place the person mentioned he ordered Smoktech cartos from was CEV. I just went through all my e-mails and found the name :)

I am documenting my experience with the last batch of 32 of the smoktech cartos I purchased in my blog. I am hoping to form some real data in terms of the good vs bad on these cartos. So far I am only 5 cartos into this order.

Thanks that's good information :)
Have you had any bad ones at all? What type of cartos did you get?
