When someone purchases a "base kit" its up to them to determine what power best suits their needs. I can only guarantee what I sell ...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

That is a scary statement !!!!!

We all want the best power supply possible. Your the professional, right???

I hope you have your product together and you would supply and tell us what power best suits the Prodigy.

If your not ready to launch your product, keep it in Tennessee.

If I am out of line, I apologize. You have a product that could be the answer to all, make sure you have it together with your product, attitude and business plan.

I don't think you realize what's being discussed there. The 'base kit' is not the starter kit that most people buy. That comes with two sets of batteries and a charger. The 'base kit' is something that Steve made available to those of us with a vast array of batteries and chargers already. It is just the Prodigy, no batteries or charger. Steve is saying that if someone buys the 'base kit' they are responsible for what they put in it.

Sounds fair enough.

WV ... Just a quick thought ...

I know the Tenergy 750mAh and 900mAh have battery specific chargers. For instance, I can't charge 750mAh batteries on the 900mAh charger and vise versa. Atleast that is what was explained to me by my Tenergy Rep ... Are you using a Tenergy Specific Charger for the 900mAh you have?

I remember reading that on some site that sold the Tenergy batteries. It's kinda why I never bought Tenergy's for my SD. It mentioned having to buy a special charger for them. Warned, actually.

I know the site you refer to Walrus.... I emailed and questioned the logic behind thier warnings.... I've since misplaced the reply email, But the gist was that Tenergy has incorporated additional protection into the specific chargers that may conflict with other cells with different ratings. Thus the reason for warning against using the 900mah charger for the 750mah cells and visa versa. Or using either of those chargers for generic cells.

What about using their cells in generic (or other name brand) chargers? Did they address that?

I went to a place called Battery Warehouse here in MD and they have some. Also found CR123 3v 1400mAh batteries at Radioshack which I returned because they cost way too darn much and dont seem to work any better than the Tenergy 3v RCR123a 750mAh batteries that come with the Prodigy.

Short answer, yes you can buy batteries for it at brick and mortar stores. I would only reccomend buying batteries other than the reccomended ones if you are in fast need for a set.

err not to be a wet towel ..but i think a lil edicate would be nice here personly.
the fact is you can buy batteries other places but i think its a lil rude to actually be putting links in steves forum, he does sell them on his site.
I would suggest if you want to post links to the batteries you use that it might be a bit more courtesous to put them in a different thread.
just imho

Yeah they actually implied that the tenergy cells I had inquired about (3.0V 900mah and 3.0V 750mah) are basically "matched" to thier respective charging systems and the chargers are designed to work exclusively with the intended batteries only....

It has somthing to do with the cells capability of avoiding blowing light bulbs in flashlights when ya initially complete the circuit....
To be honest, after I decided to stick with Steve's recommended Tenergy 3.0V 750mah batt's I must've deleted the reply email. Can't find it anywhere.
I'll shoot ya a PM Walrus.

This statement just put me off. I did not realize that the guy was using bats other than.
It seemed that I would have to decide on my own battery supply.

I am mostly upset with Blu, been waiting for a month. I am ready to cancel the order and order the Prodigy. The statement just made me have a little less faith in the company and I really want this to be the answer.

Steel, don't worry. This is the "one" Don't get a base kit, that is the kit that comes with no atomizer, batteries, or charger. Get a complete kit. Some of us have hard heads and like to play around with other batteries and such. I am in this group, ask my wife. She'll tell you if I'm not fiddling around with these I'd be back on Marlboros. Steve is the best, and stands behind his products. Your gold if you aren't a fiddler.

For questions concerning compatible Prodigy batteries, Cancer has started a new thread and Steve has replied with PS reccomendations... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ive-prodigy-battery-compatibility-thread.html This may be a good thread to bookmark if you consider experimenting with various batteries in the future.

I can't say you'd be making a wrong move. My 2 1/2 day experience with the Prodigy so far has been wonderful. And I'm still on the same battery :) That's something... considering I used to change my SD batteries a few times per day.

Of course, I'm not using the now 'standard' configuration. I have a protected 3000mAh 18650 battery in mine at the moment.

I have the standard config 5v and i'm a constant vaper and my batteries that came with it are lasting 6-7+ hours!! I'm thrilled!

There are three basic rcr123 cells for sale.

1. your basic li-ion - 3.7V nominal charges to 4.2 or so

2. same as #1 but with voltage regulation to 3V. This is the 900mah cell Tenergy is selling. They mostly suck and most people don't like them for whatever use. They require (any brands of these cells) a specific charger - shouldn't use generic li-ion charger.

3. so called li-ion (a generic term actually) but LiFePO4 chemistry. These are the 750mah cells Steve is selling. 3V by nature and should be charged on specific charger. If using a generic li-ion charger, it's said to take them off early - 3.8V or so, but I'd just use the proper charger. This chemistry isn't very useful for a lot of purposes people use traditional li-ions for, but they're much safer (no vent to flame issues) and should be fine with the small loads the PV puts on it.

This, I think, is a bit odd...if you buy a flashlight that takes D batteries, you don't even consider putting C batteries in it, they just don't work. If you buy a radio that takes AA batteries, you know that AAA won't work and don't even try it...

If people order batteries other than the ones specified (3.0v/750mAh) then I guess it MAY work..but to expect him to cover any issues caused by it??

Very strange....hehe

Hi, Yira. What's odd is how the flashlight folks agonize over these things. Actually, I shouldn't talk. It took me forever to decide what light to get for my bicycle. I finally got a "planet bike Super Spot" 1-led white that takes 4-AA, and I'm still happy with the light output. I use it when walking, too, and the same batteries have been in for three years now.

Hehe, I hate it when that happens. I believe in research, but, I think it should take about long enough to read the specs on the options, perhaps a day of reading reviews if it's a high end item (computer parts for instance) or something unknown (Prodigy) and then bam, make your choice! LOL

I haven't quite strangled my boyfriend yet for indecision...LOL It may happen though!

The only reason I haven't ordered my Prodigy is my dang car..but..it's gonna happen:D
