So I've been vaping for about two years now. I started with a cheap pen from a tobacco shop and gradually moved up to better mods. My spouse has an eVic (original) and I have moved from that through a couple of others to an eVic VTC Mini, which I loved when I first got it. Big hits and lots of smoke. I was dropping down in nic, so I was worried at first. But I digress. So when buying the new VTC I also decided to try new and branded juice. They were great Motley Brew (70%VG) and VaporFi(80%VG) vs the MyFreedomSmokes house brand premium (20%VG). I was more of a necessity b/c they stopped carrying my flavor. I did enjoy the nam brands better, no more popping and crackling. And then we both started running into a big issue. My spouse could stay on the same coil for about a month (crazy, but who am I to knock it) and I could go for a week on a Ni coil with these juices with the first boxes I purchased from the new online merchant. Then something strange. It seemed the next order of coils, we both could only go about a day or so and then our coils were needing to be changed. Not from the burnt flavor end of a coil, but the lack of smoke production and general nicotine fit from, "I'm not getting enough damn smoke!~" So I'm not sure quite what could be going on. Is the high VG gunking up these types of coils fast? (but it seemed to be fine the first few weeks?) Did I get shipped a defective batch of coils for both types of atomizers? (I think this is improbable, but not impossible) or Is the VTC mini a bad mod and dying too?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I live in an area with limited people who vape...
Thanks,
~M

Some e liquid ingredients tend to charmalize on the coil. Sweetners seems to be one of them. I do DIY (see my recipe below). For practical purposes my coils don't gunk up any more. Several times a week I replace the wick and lightly brush the coil. When I do that I find almost no contamination on the coil or wick. I have'nt replaced a coil in weeks.

Try diluting the flavoring in your commercial e liquid with unflavored DIY that has the same percent of PG,VG, and nic. When I was making the transition to DIY I diluted the last of my commercial eliquid 25/75 and it still tasted fine and I noticed my coils gunked up far less. Since unflavored DIY should only cost about one cent per ml you'll save some money too.

You've gone from a 20% VG juice to 70-80% VG juices. Heavier VG will gunk up the coils faster depending on what coils you are using it can be real fast. Drop the VG content of the new juices you like or find other juices you like with a 50/50 blend or there abouts and you should be fine again.
