so a new vape shop opened near me and i stopped in a couple days ago to check it out. seemed pretty cool but i didn't have money to buy anything. i went back yesterday to get a kayfun. i was sitting at the juice bar building it and chatting with the store owners (they are from israel and don't speak english super well but they have good products) and one of them pointed to a long shelf behind one of the counters. i asked what it was for and he said that in a couple weeks they are going to open up a DIY juice station.....that they are going to have pumps of pg/vg and pumps of flavoring and people can mix there own juices....i sort of just looked at him and said "oh." i was astounded. maybe I'm overreacting but that seems like a really bad really dangerous idea...

I don't have a problem with it if it is for non nicotine liquid, or if the nicotine is added by trained employees after the patron mixes their flavor and base.

Otherwise I see great potential for very bad things to happen including a nice high profile lawsuit dangerously close to the workplace of our hopelessly misinformed government.

You don't mention whether people will be adding their own nicotine. That would be a bad idea. If it's just pg, VG, and flavorings, and/or if they are mixing the nicotine and just offering standard concentrations pre-mixed I don't really see it as dangerous. What's the difference in someone spilling 12 mg/ml base on themselves versus 12 mg/ml pre-made juice?

it could be great, (if someone who understood English to communicate how much nicotine you wanted in the juice was present) we are a very culturally diverse city, so it's pretty common place that places like that hire an employee /their kids that speak English and translate.

but honestly people are nasty, and those pumps being available for anyone to touch, open the bottle, lick, etc, you'd be absolutely SHOCKED at what public soda machines culture.

but if done correctly, policed, kept clean (and yes I realize PG is a bacterialcide) but then say a pumper gets clogged and someone just has to have Acai and they stick one in from blueberry..etc. Having had a bead store while my kids were in school, lets just say I'd not if I had a vape shop.

He said behind the counter. To me that says the public will not be mixing but choosing their mix.. Like going to a bar and ordering a drink.

That said, so what if they were to mix their own? I can buy anything I want to mix juice online and never EVER actually talk to anybody about if/where/how or how to do it.

They're missing a business opportunity. Starbucks doesn't charge $5 for a macchiato because you make it yourself, they do it because they have trained baristas and can charge for a premium product. There's a place here in Portland like that, Rose City Vapesters. Elton, the owner, will custom blend a taste for you to your exact specifications (they also have an extensive self-serve tasting bar where you can try some pre-mixed flavors at 0mg). That seems like a great business model to me. Come in, help yourself and decide what you want, then have Elton mix it up for you and pay a premium for the service.

There is a shop by me that sorta does it on Sunday night., Customers are invited in to make a batch of their special juice. They have about 90+ flavors! No matter what you mix up you have to buy it. Then they do a taste test and whom ever makes the best juice the store sells it as 'juice of the week'. The winner gets 120 ml of juice. Nicotine would be the last thing added by the store operator.

This is a great idea! I would win every week with my famous "cheese omlette" flavor. The trick is to use a secret blend of four cheeses plus a pinch of nutmeg.

Yeah, under these circumstances, this sounds like good idea.
