I find that nothing beats isopropyl alcohol (91% +) when it comes to removing a flavor. You have to let it sit in the bottle overnight. Also helps to put some through the tubing as well. Then just rinse it out with warm soapy water and finally, regular water to get everything out of there. Finally letting it dry for a while before you use it.

Taking the tubing out is one hell of a job. For some reason I JUST tried this after looking at this thread:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/255068-reo-firing-pin-bent-picture-inside.html

When you take off the door and battery. There is a little screw there. Using a small screwdriver and unscrewing it. Pull out the screw. Finally, you can pull down the little plastic piece. Which exposes the top of the tubing, firing pin and everything else.

Didn't go all the way through with it, since I still have a full bottle of juice and didn't want to mess anything up.

Thats not a issue . I got the cover off , tube off ,cap off and oring off in under a minute . I have been cleaning all these parts while there out and its just not getting better . Whats even worse is the battery connector has this smell too which i cant get the smell out of . Definitely is a nitemare lol . Its a pretty horrible smell . Like mildew mixed with grass . Guess i will have all new parts before i use it again .

WHen i received the mod it had a tiny bit of this nasty juice in the bottle and a bunch leaked out of the catch cup so when i opened the package the whole reo was soaking in it .Its smells kinda like if you had a little tobacco juice and put it out in the sun for a few years .

LOL That's good to hear man. That's pretty quick how you took everything apart. Anyways, that's horrible. I don't know what the previous owner put in that REO. He must of even left it outside or something for awhile from what your describing. Don't know of anything that lingers like that. You should definitely wait for new parts. Since it's not clear on what that stuff is before using your REO again.

Might be really old Purecig from the smell .I could never get that taste out of a atty when fresh so that may be it . I have some 1/16" tubing from my own bottom feeder modding so ill try that for now . Its the thinner TYgon tubing like used in the Old reos .

Like a spittoon that hasn't been emptied for months!!!!. My first Mini, from Classies, wreaked so strongly, of a really strong tobacco, that the package fouled up the air, in the car, driving home from town. When I opened it it almost knocked me out. Luckily it didn't have a mildew smell to it. I think I only used 99% alcohol, that did work. The last thing to hold the smell was the cap o-ring that I soaked for several days.

I didn't take the tube off but did fill the bottle with the alcohol, used a syringe to get the tube totally filled and then turned it upside down, in dish strainer, to soak for a few days. You have to have the o-ring, in cap, to keep it from leaking out. It shouldn't leak out if kept at same atmospheric pressure.

If I'm remembering correctly part of the firing pin is covered with some tubing that appears to be silicone. There may be some odor trapped on the inside of that tubing.

Some of the things that will take mildew odors out of fabrics might leave an undesirable scent that you don't want to be smelling when vaping, like a fragrance. Baking soda or borax, not both mixed with water, comes to mind, also, for removing odors. Have you tried denture cleaner/soak?

I'll do a google search.

Never heard of Purecig before, is that the vendor or the juice? Anyways, sure seems like some strong stuff though. That tubing might just work too and it's good that you have some of it. Sure beats waiting for the stuff you ordered to arrive.

Pure smoker -Purecig juice (tried it once never again lol)

Yea the tubing i have will fit to hold me over . Still gotta get the smell out the batt connector though

i completely disassembled the reo down to bare body and cleaned everything . I had to clean the rubber on the firing pin which i was able to do . I got the smell out of the connector as well . As for the tube, oring i will need to get another one . It just wouldnt come out . I replaced the tube with some thin wall 1/16 tubing i had on hand and drilled a new cap so i could use it in the meantime . I reaasembled everything and now the smell is almost gone . Theres still a slight smell around the connector but its not bad like it was .I didnt have a spare oring though so im using it carefully right now without one . I should be good when i get the new ones though .

I think he was talking about vinegaring clothes... but as we learned from Xanalog and westamyx, you can put a metal REO in the dishwasher (no soap!) and it'll do funky things to the anodization. Looks pretty cool, the process has been dubbed 'xanalogging'.

This sounds very cool. Do you have any links to pictures of 'xanalogued' REOs by any chance, search didn't turn up anything?

great job, I am confident you will return your Reo to it's former glory...

I can't help but wonder if the seller communicated the state of your acquisition in the classifieds when he advertised it?

No all that was mentioned is that it was in like new condition which the body cosmetically is good but not taste/smell wise . I dont see why you would leave a old bottle with juice in it and ship it especially since its a bottom feeder and bound to leak all over . I was under the impression he was also including AW batts but i ended up with cheapie Ultrafires too . He didnt mention the name of the batts when i asked . He told me he forgot but they were all red with some black and were the ones everyone here used so i assumed they were AW IMR's .I think anyone would assume that from his description but i cant say anything since he didnt directly say they were AW's . Hes not a bad guy just not a great transaction since now i had to take hours cleaning the thing and buy new parts as well as AW batts so i might have been better off just buying it new instead of saving 20 bucks and dealing with this headache .

Btw after reinstalling everything the fire button also feels much better .Its a bit tighter and smoother now .

"Heres the fs thread
3. Reo Grand This is a black with silver door. Is almost new. Used maybe 3 or 4 times. A great mod but not what I need for my vaping style. You can bottom feed carto's with a Reo Grand which is nice. I just prefer tanks.
$125 includes 1st Class shipping and I pay the PP fees. SOLD"

I was also told that this REO was a couple weeks old and from what i was told here its a late 2010 model reo due to the circular milling lines
