Bad Nic?

I have questions regarding some nic I bought from wizard labs (60mg, VG based) a week ago.
I ordered everything I need to start making e-liquid and then a few days later flew from the USA to South Africa. I made my first test batch (3mg/ml nicotine, 10ml total of 30/70 PG/VG), tried to vape it but I was getting a very harsh throat hit. I ended up making 1ml of just nic, VG, PG using the same ratio above but no concentrates. However it was still harsher that ever, so I checked the PG and VG by themselves. The PG and VG didn't give any harshness, so my conclusion is that it's my nic. What are the chances that Wizard Labs mislabeled my nic, or could it possibly be the flight that messed it up?

Idk I've heard of some nic being harsher and or peppery than others. I'd contact the company.

I doubt it's suppose to be this peppery/harsh. It doesn't feel anything close to 3mg.. Are you really suppose to shake it for that long? I shook it the best I could for 1ml in a 30ml bottle a decent amount in different intervals.

Only way to be sure is get a nicotine test kit. The only nic I buy right now is nude nic. I used ecig express for months and didn't realize how bad it was until I caped some gourmet juice. Once I realized something was wrong I switched nic brands and it's all good now. I can't speak for wizard labs. I just know different nic can vary GREATLY in the peppery/harshness category.

I think he was asking if you shook/mixed your 60mg base well, before dispensing.

Yes, that, you need to shake your original bottle before dispensing, and since you have VG base, it is super thick and requires a lot of shaking.

It is true that you should agitate the nic base before administering it, BUT from my experience WL nic is pretty harsh in general .............. remember wattage plays a good role whith a higher VG mix and throat hit as well......................

For a target of 3 mg/ml nic in 10 ml you would need just .5 mg of your nic base.
For a target of 3 mg/ml in a 1 ml batch you would just use .05 ml of 60 mg/ml base.
Drops are not an accurate way to measure.

Oh... I never thought of that. I somehow missed the part about agitating the nic by itself when I did my research. I'm hoping that was the problem. Thank you guys for the help! Out of curiosity where do you guys prefer to buy nic from?

I didn't really enjoy vaping until I was able to get down to 0% nic....and that took 3 years. Yeah, I don't like the taste/pepperyness.

That said, only nic I've ever used that doesn't have TH and/or nic taste is Vapers Tek.

If you are mixing delicate fruit vapes especially, and some light desserts, that nic taste just ruins things for me. (I don't mind that taste in tobacco or heavy dessert or very complex recipes.)

Pressurization in an airplane would not make nic go bad.

- I like Wizard Labs, but kind of like Nude Nicotine better
- You're measuring very carefully? Such small amounts - making 1 ml of 3mg/ml liquid from 60mg base means you have to measure 1/20th of a ml. That's about a droplet... I don't even have a syringe marked with 0.05 ml...

I also agree with shaking it before dispensing may be overkill & not needed but I shake all liquids before adding to the mix. Lastly are you sure you put the correct amount of Nic in your mix?

I'm using a 1ml syringe, so it does have .05ml. I'm pretty sure I have been putting in the right amount, unless the blunt needle attached is holding a lot of liquid for a 1ml batch (which I doubt).

I would say then shake it & try again 1ML if still bad I would guess & is only a guess it is miss marked at 60mg

Incorrectly labeled nicotine liquid is the more remote possibility. Distributing such a product would be (an=nd has been) a bkacj mark for the vendor. They are meticulous about checking such an elemental and critical part of the business as sending out the correct percentages.

More likely is a 'hot spot' from inadequate incorporation of nicotine in the carrier liquid, particularly the more viscous VG. Rolling the bottle is the best method For VG-base as idoing so avoids introducing air which encourages oxidation. Gently heating (as in hot tap water, not microwave) is a good idea. Best of all is ordering PG base instead. Considering the negligible amount of PG in a 3% end product, unless you're allergic, it's much easier to work with.

And yeah, VapersTek (which is Chemnovatic) or Nicotine River (which is NicSelect and costs half that of VT) are likely to have less of the peppery effect and little throat hit. If throat hit is desirable, grab some VT throat hit nic at $25 per liter! It's smooth and far better than 'bargain brand' nic selling for $40-$50 per liter. Yeah, I mean MFS. Can I say that? Are they a forum sponsor? 'Hope not 'cause it's true.

Wizard labs wouldn't be in business if they didn't have very expensive machinery to mix nic properly. Some people are just more sensitive to nic. Pepsi or Coke...

@r77r7r Pepsi.... please. @KevinSA For measurement of syringe needles, I just get all air out and fill to desired amount, squeeze and perfect measurement as the needle would still be full of solution.
