Adik--Only one solution to that -you have to flood the atonizer with e-liquid and let it soak into the mesh for a couple of hours--then clear it and fire it up for only a couple of minutes--then flood it again, clear and refire--that should clear it--The problem was that the atomizer was not fully primed at the factory and the wire mesh dried out when you put it in use--give it a try----Sun

Thanks Sun but what exactly do you mean by flooding it and clearing it. Do you mean dipping it in liquid, taking it out and laving it for 2 hours then rinsing it etc.?

Here's a copy and paste from a similar thread I responded to regarding the horrid taste from a pilot atomizer:

I have a M401 Pilot and this happens from time to time:

Here are the steps I take to get rid of the awful burnt-metallic taste.

1) First, take of the atomizer and wipe down any liquid on the battery/atomizer threads. This only occurs if you have over filled your cart or put too much liquid with dripping.

2) Next drip your liquid directly on the atomizer and vape it with a blank cart to see if the taste goes away within a few puffs.

2a) If the taste is still there, I recommend you clean your atomizer following any one of the many guides on this forum. I personally soak my atomizers in pipe sweetener for about 10 minutes and rinse with water (i use a syringe for that). Then blow out the excess water and let it dry for a while. Once dry, prime it with a couple drops and vape.

3) If your atomizer is fine (no yucky taste by dripping), replace your filled cart and puff. If taste returns, then it's your cartridge.

3a) Take out the padding which holds the liquid and press it with a paper towel to completely dry and drain any excess liquid (it's tainted with the yuck smell/taste at this point). The use a q-tip to clean out the inside of the cartridge. Replace the padding, and be sure to pay extra attention that you are not stuffing the padding all the way down in the cartridge as you want to ensure that it's close enough to the atomizer, but not directly touching the mesh and refill your cartridge with juice.

I discovered that placement of the padding is key (at least for the M401) as too far away from the atomizer results in the liquid not reaching the wick/mesh which cases the atomizer to burn dry causing the horrid taste. Same goes if the padding is too close. I've simply lost patience with filling carts because of this and now just drip.

Also, often the burnt taste tends to linger in the mouth. I've noticed that drinking a cup of coffee really helps to tell you when everything is good to go as it "cleanses the pallet" if you will.

Regardless, hope this helps.

It's hard work this game :(

You get used to it. It's a new process, and yeah - all this is new technology. It's infinitely preferable to smoking cigarettes, but it ain't always easy. If there were an ecig we could buy that really had no maintenance, and worked when we needed it to whenever we needed it to, we wouldn't be having these discussions :p

It will get better. There so, so much money in this industry.

Thanks for the advice and encouragement guys and gals. I've tried the boiling water and vinegar. They're now not as bad but there's still a bit of a burnt taste there so I'm now repeating the process with all 3 atomisers. I've just opened the 4th of my 6 new atomisers and while it isn't as bad, it does have that needing broken in taste about it (I've yet to have an atomiser that hasn't had that). I'm dipping into 36 mg TW menthol yet the throat hit is pretty tame as is the menthol taste.

I'm not sure of what I'm doing but, I've just put my Atomizer and cart in my husband's Humidor for the time I'm not using it...(maybe it won't dry out)???

I'd suggest NOT to do that, bacteria and mold can develope in an humidor. I don't see any problem in just leaving your atomizer with a fairly moist cart attached overnight.

As for the metal taste, I've sometimes experienced it when vaping dry or overheating, nothing like what you guys are actually going trough.

Rsngfrce, can u clarify if the bad taste you are experiencing is more "burnt" like or "metal" like? While i agree with Spikey on her "burnt taste" guessings, i do think that a "metal" one is different and maybe somehow inherent to the atomizer.

I would call it more of a metal taste and a smokier vapor. The strange thing if it is inherent to the atomizer is that I certainly don't remember it being there when I first started using it, not until after I used it after not using it for a week or so. I didn't know enough at the time to have drained it before I stopped using it, which I'm sure I should have done...

I gave up on the bad tasting atomizer and switched to a new one last night. To my surprise, as soon as I got past the primer it started to taste foul as well. It made me think it's the reused carts and the material in them is causing the bad taste. I've reused the same 10 for about 3 weeks now. I rinse the material and remove old juice regularly.

Today I started using fresh carts with the atomizer I stared last night. So far so good. We'll see how it goes. I'll try cleaning the bad one this weekend.

Well, I had HIGH hope for the coke, but after a couple hour soak, rinse and dry, even with cola juice, it still has that same metallic taste... on the bright side, nothing I've tried yet has killed the atomizer!
What king of juice were you primarily using in the atomizer that has the burned taste? I have a feeling that a certain juice is causing this, at least for me. The reason is, a new atomizer started to taste burnt yesterday and since I switched juices it went away and didn't get worse. I got a faint hint of the that burnt taste and immediately changed carts and juice. It could still be the cart, but the one I was using was not even a day old. I'm suspecting a certain juice.

I think you are right toker.. certain very sweet flavors leave the crud on the coil and just keep burning it making that taste... sorry I wasn't paying more attention to this thread.. I should have noted that (maybe I already did? I dont' even remember if I posted that.. maybe not in this thread though?).

Certain very sugarry flavors do that.

Edit: I checked.. I posted this on page 2 lol :)

Hey Spikey.

I must have missed your post the 1st time around but went back to read it.

I'm wondering about the sweet juices too. Do they really have sugar in them? Like Cash Riskee, how did they get it sweet? I hope it's not sugar. The bad taste, I've experienced, doesn't seem to be a burnt sugar taste, to me anyway.

I'm thinking it's maybe leftover flavoring or impurities. Not sure really. Need to narrow some things down.

What I'd like to do is use an atomizer for each flavor and see what one does it. I think I know, but want to make sure. I'll have to get more atomizers.

I would like to know what brand and flavor everyone has been using the most when this happens to them.

One things for sure. People don't seem to have much luck getting rid of the taste once it happens. I'd like to figure out what flavor or juice causes it and not use it again. If it's the juice that causes this, it's not worth losing an atomizer. Especially in the time I did. Barely 3 weeks.

Anyways, that's all for now...
