well... im new... hmmmmmmm ive been a lurker... just a joe that wanted to start using a pv for better lungs.... truth be told... i had no idea this forums was this big... was mostly looking through the modder forums (the talent makes me to want to try my hand at it... but sometimes you just cant seem to get it if your not a member... >.>) i had a few ideas and want to thorw them around and see what sticks and what others would change or... maybe if an idea is... deadly lol... but as of now im a 510 standrad batt user... but its so sad when you have a dead batt and no spare... (imo the batts dont have enough charge... but i think i may be able to pull one a mod one day )

thanks for the tips!
well as the mod is concerned-
i plan on a 3.7v and 5v mod in one using a two way switch,
using this booster TPS63002 from ti focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/tps63002.html#technicaldocuments (cut and paste this and add http:// to see the specs) plan on getting it from digi-key search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=296-19644-6-ND (same part but if you want to see do the same thing). i planed on a single 14500 cell to power this but looking at this booster i wonder if wiring to 14500 together in a parallel would work for this...
well still up in the air about the box or switch, but haven't looked up what kinds of caps to use (kinda dont know where to start there... well for the 3.7v side it would be a simple wire job going through the two way switch, and the 5v side wired through the booster to the switch, so the 3.7 and 5v are wire in parallel in the box or whatever body used and each side would work on there side of the two way switch. so switches between them at will without much to deal with. but still trying to figure out if this thing has a control to wire a tact switch for another mod idea... it work work with this on cause the 3.7v wired into the switches 1A to 2A going through them so i need a 2A switch for this idea... any input is welcomed... but i was planing a waiting to post this in the modder forums lol

The manual 510 mega xl batteries are very nice - 60% more charge (280mah vs 180mah). They are kind of long though - about 128mm w/ a Boge carto, a bit longer w/ atty+cart.

And of course and Ego or Riva 510 gets you 650mah and up. I got a Riva 510 Lite Bundle at Liberty-Flights.com for under $30 (2 batteries, 2 atomizers, charger). You just have click the 20% off in the upper left of the front page then the prices shown change to showing 20% lower. If you happen to get on of those then also buy the Ego button protector here

Madvapes sells VR's here IC's and Regulators, but you'd need to wire your 14500's in series in order to drop the voltage down using the VR. A 3.7v/5v mod wouldn't be hard to do. It would be possible to wire it using a 3 way switch with off/3.7v/5v in place of the simple on/off switch. You might get a tangle of wires in there but it would be easy enough to do. I'd just set it up to run your batt's in series for 5v, and parallel for 3.7v using the switch. If you wanted, you could also get 7.4v in there pretty easy too, just add a bit more wiring to bypass the VR with your batt's in series. It might be simpler to just get a variable voltage regulator though. Madvapes has them on the cheap too.

You ought to get a few more posts then go to the modders forum.

Cool ideas for mods... make sure that what you want to do is safe, then jump in!

180mah isn't a whole lot... the mega 510 batteries are really long and goofy. If you have a bunch of attys already for your 510, maybe just pick up an ego/riva/tornado battery? That will bring you up to 650mah... they're like $20 iirc and all of your 510 gear will be compatible.

sorry for the late post was forgot to log off when i went to work <.<
well... i have a mega 510 already, and because the volt output on them vs. a ego stye is about the same i figure the next step is to try a mod
hahaha im no expert but i have been lurking (non-member) watching updates and new ideas pop up in the modder forums, still working on the details of this mod idea.... (no idea what caps i should use with this booster) but the reason i want to know if this booster would work with 14500 batt in parallel is because i was wondering if it would hold up to the mah, but it would be pretty sweet to have that choice of 5v vaping or 3.7 at longer batt life...
and no this is not a new idea... the mod was something made at one point by connman loved the idea so i desided to try my hand at it, (and i loved the 3min lighter mod, but i think the batt life wouldn't be much better then what i have.... really cool mod tho, very small and sexy lol) but he used a different booster the one i picked is a switching boost regulator with 96% Efficiency fixed at 5v output... but there is and adjustable model if someone is interested TPS63000 has a output of 1.2v to 5.5V at ti... but... you cant use li-ion batts in a sires with it because of the Vin min is at 1.8 and the Vin max is at 5.5.... but i guess its good news for people that fear li-ions and would rather use nickel based batts and want to push out 5v with two batts...
and thank you all for the warm welcome im just a guy with to much time on his hands, and i guess this post is almost a rant... lol
two more posts lol... but any ways i plan on building simpler mods form mad vapes before i try this idea (used to soder 3 years back but i got to get back in the grove lol) thank you all for your input (do plan on geting an ego or a riva... but after i make something i like tho... >.>)

love this idea i was tossing around something like this in my head for awhile but came to the same conclution that if i have it in a sires im better off going for a vv mod, but wouldnt a vv mod have the same batt drain a 3.7 and 5v or even 6v? so by that logic i figure if i wanted to consere batt life i would be better off with 3.7 and 5v with a booster wired in parallel on a sigle batt or mutipule ones in parallel... but i kinda really interested in your idea, would love to hear more!

 ......oh my.... i think i just relivze how ingenious that was.... a sweet idea, a great idea... what i can picture form it is a puck stye 2x 4xaa batt box (or any other box you can fit four batts in) mod have two of the four 3.7v batts wire in a sires though the regulator (for higher volt vaping...) into a two way switch (or three way switch for the off), and the wire the last to batts into a parallel wire to its respective side of the switch for 3.7v vaping... oh my, what a wonderful thing... its two completely different batt set up in one mod... wow very awesome took me a while to get your post completely but i love the idea... wow so much to learn i thank you, this mod has made my list to try when my skill grow more... :vapor::cool:

You've got your 5 posts now so you should be able to get into the modders forum.

What I was referring to was a 3 x AAA box with 2 14500 batt's. Wire the batt's through a 3 (or 4) way switch so you're running the same batts in series for 5v, parallel for 3.7v, and bypassing the VR in series for 7.4v. If you wanted to keep the size down you could use 16340's or 18350's for a smaller package.

Anyway, check out the modders forum and you'll probably find someone in there who's built a similar unit.

hmmm i see... i once tried something close to that a few years back but never could figure out how to wire a series and and parallel without causing a short... the current never even gets to the switch but great food for thought... thank you for the input at this moment im still lurking at the modder forums... lol your posts made me look up the puck again... never hurts to flip through all the pages every once in a while... got as far as pg. 67 a few nights ago
