Hello fellow e-cig members, I hope everyone had a good holiday season!

Anyways, I need a little help. I've been smoke free for almost a month and a half, while I love vaping, I am having a hellish time with my equipment.

For the majority of this time, I had been using a standard 510 with cartomizers and it was 'okay'. The standard batteries suck for a person who basically keeps the pv glued to their face and trying to carry multiple cartomizers/juices around becomes a bit tedious.

I had a Leo the entire time, but was waiting on a defective piece replacement. I now have the replacement but I am frustrated to no end. It doesn't wick well at all and I have moved to dripping 100% of the time(good thing I don't drive many places or this would be no good).

I've read several threads with wicking on the Leo and I've tried the blue foam method and I still can't get a good performance. For everything I've read, I'm just not seeing the results that I expected to out of the Leo.... this leads me to the "I need help" portion.

A) Anyone know of any good way to modify the carts for the Leo to allow for quicker, constant wicking? Anyone have an ETA on those cartomizers for the Leo?

B) I am looking more and more at mods. >.> lol I need suggestions for an all day, quick wicking, pv unit. I am liking the looks of the Reo Minis, but I haven't gotten far into the equipment reviews.

With the amount of reviews, I figured it would be nice to get some opinions on the modded units and which one will work... Just work without me having to mess too much with it. If people could possibly point me in the direction of some websites, that would be awesome too!

I wouldn't say I weight throat hit or vapor over each other, so a unit that could probably do both well would be awesome, lol.

The reason I ask for direct response is because I went with the 510 unit when people suggest I go with an eGo, which I probably should have; I went with the Leo, even though people told I should probably start looking at mod units, which I probably should have. I have had no issue with aesthetics, I could vape a soda can for all I care, I just want to fit comfortably in my hand. I like the idea of a wet box unit, but the cylinder based units appeal to me also.

I love vaping far better than smoking and I've come to enjoy my vaping a lot, it's just so hard when I am having a hard time going through so many reviews to find something that might work and I can't get my 'superior' equipment to perform the way it should. :(

Thanks a lot in advance guys!

My Leo just shipped today, so I won't be able to help out much other than say to use two pvs. Let one cool, vape the other, repeat. :) I haven't seen much in the way of a cart mod for the carts, but if you google "801 cart mod", the top of the list is a list of ECF threads that could help get better wicking. I haven't checked them out yet, but I'm sure there will be lots of great info.

BTW, when I want to find something here, I actually just search google. ECF threads pop up, and it seems to be better than using the search feature here. :?: Just a little tip I've found. I'll report back in a couple days after I get mine. :)

EDIT: Don't confuse 801 parts for the Leo . . . the Leo only uses the 801 carts.

Yeah, I do the google thing too, search on EFC is horrib-i-bad. I had done so much searching and question asking about the Leo isn't not even funny. I had great expectations for it, as did many people, it just seems to be a hit or miss product, which really makes me sad. I like the feel of it, I like the idea of it, but the practice of using it just doesn't fullfill for me due to the wicking issue.

I've even altered how I hit it to allow for a slower, steady draw in hopes it would help wick better, but I haven't been able to produce a different result. =\

I sometimes wonder if any of us will ever quit trying something different with these things. I have given up on carts. They are just to much bother for me. I drip and agree its a pain while driving. Most of my driving is short trips so I get by. I'm waiting right now for the new "clearamizers"(SP) that should be here Tuesday. :) These things look like the answer to all of my problems. :2cool: We'll see.

By the time I find what I want/need I am going to be broke! lol

What are these 'clearamizers'? I am asking here, but I am going to google also :)

Nerdbox, I had a Leo...I couldn't keep the wick wet enough and ended up blowing an atty.

I now have a Reo Mini and it definitely does work as advertised.

You'd probably would want a Reo Grand instead (bigger battery capacity).

And look into the Eclipse EQ: The Eclipse eq Personal Vaporizer (Patent Pending) [The Eclipse eq] - $0.00 | Best Electric Cigarette | Electronic Cigarette

There is also a thread on here regarding the Eclipse (planned release in Feb).

Than you emanguba; Would you say you can use your Mini easily and it works well? I need to go digging around in more reviews/howtos/explanations! lol

Yes, it is quite simple...learning curve is minimal.

After purchasing the Reo Mini, all you need to buy are some 14500 batteries and a charger for them.

Keep your batteries charged, 3ml bottle filled with juice, and just vape away.

No more messy carts or cartos to fill. I don't have to lug around a bag-ol-equipment anymore.

Throat hit and flavor are both comparable to dripping.

The difficult part is getting your hands on one.

Though, I believe Rob (the creator/seller) of the Reo's will have 300 mini's available for sale soon.

Follow the Reo thread because there are specific directions on how to purchase one.

I have 2 mini's...1 for a friend and 1 for myself (for testing purposes)...and results are very good.

The "Clearomizers" are modified CE2's with a clear tank so you can see the juice level instead of the black or steel. I don't know if that will make them any better, but I've had a fair amount of good luck with them and really want to try the clear ones. Since I'm vaping a mod, I'm going to get the 2.4Ohm and see if that makes a difference with how they work.

That seems rather interesting; the ability to see what is left, etc, etc.

The idea of a mod is growing on me; it's time to dig deeper into the fray!

Hey nerdbox. I'm in MI. Where are you at in this beautiful frozen state? I'm closing on a year vaping here pretty soon and I have collected a few mods. (Chuck, GLV 2 5V, Buzz VV etc.) I can give you a run down on the ones I've experienced. Hell, if you're close enough you could try them.

I'm right between Ann Arbor and Detroit.

I would actually appreciate a little explanation between those mods if you wouldn't mind :p

Where are you at?

nerdbox, I lived in Westland for 15 years. raised my kids there. I grew up in Salem township and graduated from Plymouth/Canton HS.
I live about an hour from you. I'm about 45 miles west of Yipsi down US 12. I could let you check out my devices if you wanted to meet. PM me if you want to try before you buy.

I happen to love the Leo ... but I always drip ... and I don't necessarily recommend it for a new vaper.

Instead, I recommend either the Kr8 (for simplicity and convenience) or 510-based fat batt (e.g., eGO or Riva) for high-mAh and optimum compatibility.

If they have drip tips for the leo, get some and throw your carts in the trash. Dripping is much less hassle.

Amen

It took a few days for my Leo to start to perform... vaping the Leo is like driving an 18-wheeler... takes a while to get going, but once it does, it's powerful... I drip... the cart method NEVER worked for me.

As for quick wick... man, try dripping on to a LR 306 atty - especially with a cannon drip tip... It doesn't get much better

I've been exclusively dripping on the Leo since prior to this post and it's good.

It does take a day or two to break it in.

I am however upset that carts work for crap. :( ahh well, I get better flavor this way anyways.

Conclusion: I am disappointed, but not as much as I was a week ago. It's much better performing than the 510 unit, as long as I drip. dripping exclusively isn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be and seems to have better results regardless of the unit; I was just apprehensive at first because I thought it would break my illusion of "smoking"... it's a good thing I don't care about smoking anymore and can proudly call myself a vaper.

Thanks everyone for the responses.
