First off, Mooby, excellent video review. I've seen a bunch of your reviews on this site and they've all been thorough and informative.

My question is, what is the "touch" version that was mentioned earlier in this thread? It was never described in any detail, other than that it doesn't have a button. It's also not mentioned on cybervex's site. Was this a one-off prototype thing? How does it work?

Yes it was a one time thing that I requested and bought from Jay in the smaller version. I was looking for a more 'sleek' version. The leds are recessed - which I think is now standard, he cut down the on/off switch and then files some grooves back in to fingernail it, and the activation is done with two flat contacts where the button would be and your thumb completes the circuit. The only thing is, is that the thumb needs to be a bit moist sometimes to make the circuit :) I use it but wouldn't recommend it. For one thing, when vaping on a button Bart I keep the thumb on the button and then just push... d'uh ;-) but with the touch version you have to move the thumb off the contacts and then back on, etc. I know that doesn't seem like a big thing and it isn't but that's another aspect of how it's different. Also if you get too moist, sometimes you have to wipe off the contacts to stop it. :)

Here's the video:

Thanks for the info :)

That's pretty damn slick, but I think I agree about it not being practical. If nothing else, it's really cool to see he's trying out new stuff like that. A lot of guys, after coming up with a popular design, would not want to mess with it. I like the fact that cybervex is trying out new features, and even adding in the ones that make sense (recessed switch and LEDs) into the production units.

That does it. I'm shooting him an email now.

You won't regret it. It's my no. 1 mod, and #2,3,4... ;-) There's a Protege in there too - also a 14500/510 combo, but I like the ergnomics of the box mod. I agree on all points on cybervex.

Hello Bartleby fans!

My wife and I are proud owners of 2 3.7v versions but I have a question for anyone who owns a 5v version.

Is the built in USB charger also a feature of the 5v as in the 3.7v? I really like the ability to charge without messing around with batteries and chargers.

Besides the obvious different voltage and different batteries used, are there any other differences between these 2 versions?

Congrats on the twin Barts! The 5v version has no internal charger. I don't recommend using the regular Joye 510 atty on the 5 volt, unless you only drip and even then you can't hang on the button.

With cartridge, you should go to an HV 510 with a higher ohm rating or a 901 with an adapter, however, when you do that you knock the wattage down toward the 3.7v with the Joye 510 atty. And so the difference in vapor won't be that significant.

The real significant vapor gain is going from a regular, mega or even a TorneGo to the 14500. And with the 3.7v you'll keep your attys clean. I just 'cleaned' my Tornado atty by putting it on a Bartleby for a while ;-) ... back to the Tornado and all is fine.

DOH! i sorry don't do BBS's that well since wildcat... lol

OK then ill ask here i guess... anyone here ever use a cartomizer on the bartleby (obviously someone has seen the posts) but, the main part is what voltage works best for cartomizers? 5v or 3.7v?

I posted that cybervex is taking 2-4 weeks off from taking orders. His last orders have been sent out.

As far as cartomizers go - I have a 5v Bart and some 3.7v ones. The 5volt squeezes the best vapor you can get from a cartomizer (ymmv depending on types - vaporking.com, greencig, puresmoker, V4L and by flavor and now whether it is a premium or standard cartos - also now, whether it is VG or PG). A cartomizer of the 3.7v Bart is a more than the KR8 imo, at least in the time that the Bart holds peak voltage throughout the cartos. But it is close. And it is less than the 5V but you're more likely to burn the innards and blow that atty on the 5V.

I had defaulted to using cartos only on the 5v until I cut a few of them apart. Now I still have one 3.7 Bart that is for cartos - it has a blank one that I fill with V4L's caramel mocha frap and Janty capp and some VG. However, I could just as easily - easier actually - to just put it in a cart with the 510 atty. Coffee holds up to the 510 atty well and you get more vapor. I'll use cartos when I travel.

cool ill go with a 3.7v on next paycheck..... hopefully this will curb my spending, i am going through batteries like a chain vaping fiend. i dipped the auto in ethyl alcohol for a few pretty deep to clean out the switch, seems to have work, i suspect it was from the 510 atty dripping down in there, plus its one of the original batteries from when i got the kit and before i figured out how to refill cartomizers without being messy. but now the mega battery i just got from GP about a week ago seems to be petering off quick on power between charges (i charge that one from the wall when i goto bed at night), i dont know, and my dam pass-through wire is breaking !

(lol)

i just threw my dmm on my large manual battery and my pass-through for my 808.... the battery puts out 3.74v and PT puts out 5.01v..... hmmmm maybe a 5v bartleby w/ a 901....

Looks like I got my order in just in time :D

My bart arrived today, and all the great things said about it in this thread are totally true. It is excellent. It's also even smaller than I expected. Cybervex is a genius to have fit USB charging into such a tiny device. I honestly think this is the best $50 I've ever spent.

Glad you got in, candre! :) Truly one of the best deals in ecigs. Respectable Cost/Quality/Performance ratio. Esp. if you haven't done mods. The performance gap blows you away. Vapor and ease of draw is striking.

Quick question about the Bartleby,

I got mine back in November but only used it a few times here and there since I was being satisfied with my janty stick. I did notice when I first received it that it didn't charge long (meaning the red charging light didn't stay on for over 5 minutes). I just thought that it was probably finished charging and went on my happy way....

But I have recently started using the bartleby device exclusively for the last week and have noticed the same thing is still happening. I plug it in to charge (usb) and the red light either doesn't come on, or it only stays on for a minute and then goes off. I've used it out and about for hours at a time and expected that it would take longer to charge than a minute (comparing to janty stick charging time and other devices). I've tried multiple USB cables and all give the same result. Could it be that this amount of time is all it takes to charge, or would it mean that something may be wrong with my bartleby charging port (or light/other component)?

Thanks for any advice!
Brad

Having a few Janty Sticks myself, I was amazed at the time it took to recharge the 14500 batts on the Bartleby. It's been discussed here and it is a quick recharge. I really didn't believe it myself and I mainly have mine hooked up by my chair in the living room or at the computer (use wall plugs) and so I left one off early on to see if it simply wasn't charging. It lasted 9 1/2 hours and then the recharge was longer but if you're out for just a few hours it only takes a few minutes to recharge the unit. Incredible really (compared to the Janty Stick - which even if you draw with it on the cable will go 'red' for a bit - not so with the Bart.
