Anybody else order for shipping TODAY(12/7/09). I ordered on 12/5/09(for today's shipping). Today, the website changed and says :

Waiting on batteries. They should arrive in the next 5 to 10 days, you never know with USPS. Order now being taken for shipment on 12/14/2009

I specifically emailed Jay and said I didn't need batteries as I have plenty 14500's. I have not heard back from him, nor have I gotten a shipping verification. This is also my 1st bartleby order, so I don't know what to expect.
From previous experience, does anyone know if the unit will ship? Is anyone else in this same predicament? I'd rather not have to wait 5-10 days(waiting on batteries that I don't need) for the unit to ship.

After some issues with the USPS, which were out of Jay's control, I finally received my Bartleby ordered a week before Thanksgiving...

Jay is a very stand up guy - took care of the issue, no problem.

Everyone needs to remember, Jay has a 'regular' job and does this as a side line - and I think it has grown beyond anything he anticipated...

I put a battery in, plugged in my USB cable, attached my atty - 510 version - put on the cart I was using on a standard manual 510 battery - holy smoke (pun intended), what a difference!!!

I'll never buy a 510 battery again...

Thanks Jay!!!!

Nope, haven't received a thing. I ordered also this weekend. have now sent 3 emails and a PM via this forum with no response. Jay if your following this forum or this thread can you PLEASE respond. Thank you.

UPDATE:
Jay has just contacted me via email. Apparently, there is no shipping notification on 1st class mail(only priority). Also, Jay is extremely busy , so it takes him some lag time to check his emails and PM's on ECF. Anyway, all is good in Bartlebyland, the 510 BB is on the way and I will be happily vaping away soon. By the way, thanks Jay for getting back to me.

OK, I figured as much. I honestly didn't expect a tracking email until someone above mentioned that they got one. And I figured the guy was busy, I don't know how people who do this sort of thing on the side ever respond to email, but then again I'm a sysadmin and I get hundreds if not thousands of emails a day :(

Hi Don,

The problem with some plugs is that they don't really tell you the needed data - in the case of using a charger with a passthrough it needs 5V - 1amp (sometimes written 1000ma) up to 2amp - at least that's what I've read.

But a 5V 1amp output for a dual usb plug is only 500ma per port. And that will underrun a PT.

There is no amperage noted for the Griffin but I know they have one dual usb wall plug that is 500ma for each port, so I'd have to see the full specs in order to buy this one. There have been many that have been posted here for wall and car and I have the Belkin dual usb for the car

Amazon.com: Belkin Dual USB Car Charger for iPod (Black): Cell Phones & Service

... and only one of the ports are good for the PT, the other for a corded usb charger. A full dual port for 2 people vaping at 1amp a piece:

usbfever.com - Accessories for USB Gadgets, PC, iPhone / iPod, PDA / Phone Accessories, Charger, Bike / Car Mounts

And for anyone going with this plug, (it's china so the shipping will be a week - but it's cheap shipping) while you're there get this, with the US plug:

usbfever.com - Accessories for USB Gadgets, PC, iPhone / iPod, PDA / Phone Accessories, Charger, Bike / Car Mounts
With the Bartlby almost any USB adapter will work. You are not 'passing through', which would imply a direct connection to the atty, you are simply providing power to the built-in 500mA charger which is keeping the battery topped off between puffs. Using a higher mA adapter will not change anything as the Bartlby's charging circuit has been design to charge the battery at the optimum mA level.

As far as how many AMPs are needed for a true PT, that depends on the atomizer you use. One size does not always fit all.

In this very simplified example current (AMPs) X ohms (atty) = volts

1A (1000mA) into a 510 atty (about 2.5 ohms) = 2.5V... unacceptable

1A (1000mA) into a 801 atty (about 3.7 ohms) = 3.7V... acceptable

Although it doesn't apply to the Bartleby. The following AC/USB adapter WILL power ANY direct connect 5V USB passthru out there. It's 2amp max and built very well. I've been using it on my Puresmoker USBPass for 4 months without a hitch. Best of all. It's only $3.90 WITH SHIPPING included:

What are the specs (output) from the back of the adapter?

What are the specs (output) from the back of the adapter?

5V 1.5amp max (port1)
5V 1.5amp max (port2)
port1 + port2 1.5A

I addressed this with Steve Campbell(the guy that re-sells them) because I noticed that as well. He told me this was a misprint on the labeling. I believe him as this (on my 510 USBPass) way outperforms my Kensington(which is 1.5A max). Regardless, even if that label is correct, it delivers and has never once tripped or failed on my Puresmoker USBPass, my Vaprlife VP PT or my Altsmoke BB direct connect PT. The vapor production, throat hit, etc..(on this adapter) far outperforms any other power adapter I've used.

I believe you I was trying to figure out if there was a difference between the $9.99 model and the $3.80 one of which I own two. Both sites appear to be the same folks, TAS Eelectonics.

Yeah, there both the same(IQ power adapter) I don't know how Steve is getting them at such an amazing price.

Thx.. Ordering mine today!!!

BTW thx Mooby for directing e to the 510. I had ordered a suck first e-cig months ago and threw it away the first night.

The 510 with teabag mod works great! Just waiting on my Bartelby!

i switched to blue foam from teabag and i like it better for making filling and vaping....just cut a piece of blue foam a little wider and put it in...
