base spring question

My GGTS was staying on and I opened it up to check on it and the spring in the brass base (next to the activator button) is all bent up and amorphously coiled. Any suggestions on how to fix that? Do I need to or can I order a new one?

If it's too bad to fix(maybe turn around and straighten out) you should be able to go to any hardware store and find a replacement. Just take the old one with you and match it up, I do not know the exact size maybe Imeo can chime in.

You could just order the fuse kit and then you will have the added safety feature.

Stormy, GGTS 451 has the upgraded fuse kit already, right? What comes with the fuse kit? I've no earthly idear what exactly that is.

ETA: I see what you're saying - it's there on the VK site. So... does that do away with the spring altogether?

This is correct. You just have to make sure not to over tighten on the battery.

Hi critter my friend.
Stormy is right about the fuse kit but you can smoke GGTS without the spring too. The telescopic system allows that. Of course there is no safety if a short happens so I dont recomend it but its a solution until you get the fuse kit or to order a new spring from Rob or Lisa.

Yea I pulled the spring out of mine on day one... heheh... When tightening down on the telescopic just feel for the battery to touch the post and stop.
