Hi everyone... I mixed up my next 4 batches tonight...I'm pleased to say that all 4 of them seemed to work out great! starting to experiment a little more with combining...

I'm still mixing batches at 5ml just in case they totally stink...I wont be out much. when they steep a little and I can see how they improve then I will mix up 10-15 ml batches. I did notice on the first 3 batches (one went in the sink) that the flavors and sweetness really came out after sitting around for a few days. I did a hot water bath overnight and some shaking but that was all the steeping I did.

Batch 5 - strawberry frost - 10% strawberry, 2% koolada, 2% EM, 1 drop lemon juice in 5 ml.
Batch 6 - pear - 15% pear, 2% EM, 1 drop lemon juice in 5ml.
Batch 7 - peach - 10% peach, 2% EM, 1 drop lemon juice in 5ml.
Batch 8 - Cafe Mocha - 4% mocha, 8% sweet cream, 2% EM
Batch 8 - the cream is coming out really heavy right after mixing. Hoping that hot water bath and sitting might bring out more mocha flavor. otherwise ill let it sit for a week and add a bit more mocha.

Im far from experienced, so if you see anything in the above that makes you say OMG...please let me know!

Thanks!

Geo

I'm far from being even close to a expert, but I see Hoosier recommending Butterfly Farts. EM one drop per 5-10 ml.

I actually used a recommendation from Hoosier's blogs for the EM...I'm not really sweet and need all the help I can get!

EM = Ethyl Maltol. You may as well tie one hand behind your back if you do not have some of this in your stash of stuff. (Two flavoring companies that I know of also sell this in a 10% solution as Cotton Candy Flavoring.) I use EM in a 10% solution and here is what it does: 1. Tiny Bit (A fraction of 1% in your mix) - Gives a "body" to the vapor and may slightly reduce sharp notes. 2. A Bit (Close to 1% +/- in your mix) - As above but will take the edge off sharp notes and may very slightly sweeten. 3. A Bunch (1%-5% of your total mix) - As above plus sweeten 4. A Load (10%+ of your total mix) - Cotton Candy flavor Note that some folks are sensitive to the effects of EM and can taste sweetness at 0.05%, but this is fairly rare, and some folks are resistant to the effect and will never get anything sweet out of EM, but it will still add a depth to their juice that is feel more than taste. I don't care if you buy Maltol crystals and make your own solution or if you buy a 10% solution of ethyl maltol premade, like I do, just get it and experiment? with it.

I think I may have to rename strawberry frost though. After some hot water baths and shaking I have been sampling it this am... and it is a dead nuts match to Pop Rocks candy from the 1970's. Right down to the atty pops...lol.

On a different note, I had to swap out the original coil on my pro tank. No prob, I just threw another one in. My pro tank sounds like the fourth of July! I don't know if its the juice or the coil, but it sure is popping a lot...enough so I can feel it on my tongue. Does anyone know why that is?

Thanks
Geo

Mine sounds like firecrackers right after I clean / dry-burn. It's also quite loud after a new wick and coil are installed. I think the coils being all clean and shiny promotes the juice being heated a little hotter than a broken-in coil. The liquid will boil when it makes contact with the hot coil and make a big ruckus.

Don't throw it out! You can clean them with warm hydrogren peroxide soak. Taking it apart and soak it over night. If that doesn't work, you can re build them. Even if you don't want to re build them now you many later so hang on to them

I've never thrown away any heads...T3 or ProTank...lol. tried rebuilding some T3s but that didn't work out too well... I have tremors and 42yr old eyeballs... enough said. LOL

Tell me about the peroxide soak tho... will this remove gunk from the wick and coil? After I soak and rinse will I be able to use that head again?

I have found that I need to replace the heads after about a week...when vapor production is decreased.

Thanks

Try stronger reading glasses it will help see the tiny parts.

I take the heads apart and expose the coil. Warm the peroxide in the microware. drop the head in and wait. Soak it over night. Dry burn and put everything back togetter. If the flavor wick is nasty, and you can't clean it then replace it. You should be able to get more than a week. I have used isophol alchol too. I think the peroxide is a bit better not alot. Try cleaning the heads every couple of days.

Do you rotate devices? I will rotate evod's and clean one each night by droping the whole head in the solution. If it gets a little bad then I will break it apart and clean it well.

Try raising the voltage alittle on the provari for a minute if vapor production decreases and then lowering it back down. That helps too for a quik fix.
Good luck

I get 2-3 weeks on a t3 head and 4-6 weeks on a evod head. The evod and protank heads are the same. I use several evod at a time

THANK YOU Dee Dee! I will certainly try soaking in peroxide.. maybe I can get an extra use (at least) out of my heads.

I have two ProTanks ans two T3s to share between my wife and I...but I take care of all the equipment. I tend to change flavors frequently (after each tank). Typically, I wash the tank and head in hot tap water...as hot as I can stand... and then thoroughly dry the tank and head with an air compressor.
Then, I refill and enjoy.

I'll certainly try your peroxide method!

thanks again!

I'm not sure if it's just me or how I'm dry burning. But when I dry burn The coil ether no longet work or they are less efficent then before. I burn them for 2 - 3 seconds I give it 3 quick shots then let them cool and give them 3 more quick shots of 2 - 2 seconds. What am I doing wrong. These are kanger T3 coils.

I also have this thing called the plunger

http://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/categories/the-plunger.html

That I've adapted to fit the t3's that I found work the best to clean them. I've had one t3 last 6 weeks so far and it's just starting to fade.

When I dry burn, I will hold the fire button for 5-6 seconds at a times. I will contuine untill I get all the coils lighting up good. Then I will run the coil under water good to get the ash ect out.

danny, what do you fill them with to clean them?

I just use plain hot water using the plunger.

As far as dry burning, I've been afraid to mo more then 3 seconds at a shot because I've burn a few C4's out going longer then 3 seconds.

I hear ya, I try not to dry burn and clean and soak first. But if you are going to dry burn and don't burn the gunk off the coil they are worst off, and taste bad. If the coil is going to go, it's going to go. I had no luck with ce4 at all. I am a fan of kangers. Luckily, I found them pretty fast. regular maintence maybe more to do with longevity than anything else.

Let us know about how batch 8 comes out. Just ordered some mocha and I'm looking for some coffee flavors to mix up. This one sounds yummy. How long are you steeping it for??? I just picked up an US cleaner to speed these things up

#8 was mixed on Friday 6/1 and from sitting around it hasn't changed much, and I am really short on patience. I added .05ml of mocha to the remaining mix today [3.5-3.75 ml total) and that immediately improved it.

I mixed 5 more batches tonight... 3 are ready to vape right away (9,10 &11). #12 is a coffee unicorn but I feel like I am getting closer as long as I can wait to let it steep. #13 is capable but feels very dry on the tongue to me...might need to sit a few days.

Also, I found that we had a US cleaner under the bathroom sink, so I have all 6 (8-13) bottled up and in there vibrating away for a while? 30 mins tonight, but longer tomorrow. I need to read up on US steeping...do you use water also?

Batch 9 - Peachy Banana
Batch 10 - Peach Frost
Batch 11 - StrawBan
Batch 12 - Coffee Test #2
Batch 13 - Kool Mint

I've researched a ton before getting into DIY... and apparently it shows. Of the 13 batches done so far, I'd say that I probably have a couple ADV's and probably 75% are worth repeating in larger batches. Only one was deemed horrid and was fed to the sink.

I kinda feel bad for having such enormous success so far. I read all the posts where folks are having huge problems with making good juice...I wish I had enough experience to help them, but right now I'll just take it that I am just lucky.

Thanks
Geo
