Batteries And Charger?

Hi all
I have just been given my first external battery mod, an OBS Cube X, takes 18650, the question I have have is what are the best batteries to buy and good charger? Just to complicate things i had also ordered an eleaf istick Pico S, which takes an 18650 or 21700. Should I go with the 21700 on this or will an 18650 suffice? I am not a huge 'cloud chaser, so will the 18650 last all day?

When you have the option to chose between a 18650 and a 21700 the answer is obvious.21700 gives bigger longevity,higher cdr,less voltage sag etc.
What wattage are you planning to use?Because you must match your batteries to it.

My Eleaf Pico S came with a 21700 battery. So depending on what you ordered it may come with a decent cell. Everything else has been answered for you by others so I’ll just add the Pico S is a nice mod. It may last all day but that depends on the wattage you vape at and how often you are vaping so it’s impossible to answer but potentially it can last all day. Good luck and good choices for mods, they should make you happy, both are pretty well thought of from what I’ve seen.
If you bought the Pico S kit it should have a cell otherwise not. Also I’ll add Xtar makes nice chargers so you may want to try one of their offerings. 18650 batteries are by far the most common and popular size batteries. So depending upon the availability and choice of batteries in your location, they may be the better choice for you. I use the pink Samsung 30Q 3000mah batteries around 30 watts and get nearly a full day's use vaping with one.

We choose what batteries to use by their specifications, primarily the capacity (mah) and amp rating (cdr or continuous discharge rating). What wattage setting you in a regulated mod determines what batteries to use, determined also by the amp rating of the battery.

The 21700 battery which comes with the eLeaf is not great quality, it degrades quickly.

Stick a Molicel P28A in the Cube, a Molicel P42A in the Pico, and charge them using the internal charger of the devices.
This is what I currently do.

The internal chargers are a bit slow, and do not charge to 100 % (mine stops at 4.07 V), but are the most practical solution.

You can use an external charger, Nitecore New i2 is the best bang for the buck; it will charge battery at 100% and give you the possibility to verify the batteries. It is also considered to be marginally safer.

Again, I only charge mods internally, as I do with phone, shaver and other battery-powered devices.

One recomendation: be sure to purchase the battery from a reknown battery dealer, as it is the only true warranty to receive genuine items, which - with batteries and battery chargers - it is of utmost importance, both for performance and safety.

As you're new to external battery mods, I'll add a few words on battery care and safety. Mooch, as linked above, is the resident battery guru and the top line resource. His videos offer a good introduction. His blog is superb, but it's not very accessible for someone new to the topic. The perfect place for a beginner is to start is Baditude's Ultimate Battery Guide post. It'll walk you through key points like:

• Which brands are reliable
• Checking your battery wraps for damage (never use a battery with a damaged wrap - the good news is they're pretty easy to replace)
• How to carry a spare battery without setting your pocket on fire
• Wattage limits for a selection of good batteries
• A list of reliable vendors (Mooch also provides a good list - it's essential to buy batteries from a reliable vendor because of the proliferation of counterfeits. Never buy a battery from eBay, Amazon or similar sites.)

For chargers, the standard recommendations are anything by Xtar, some of Nitecore's offerings and Efest's LUC line. Different models charge at different rates and some of the common chargers don't work with 2x700s, so be sure to check those features before selecting a model.
