batteries, button top v. flat top

I got a battery yesterday at a local B&M, which came in a little box, Efest, and when I got home with it and took it out of it's box it was a flat top. I'd not expected this, I thought it was a button top when I bought it, but no biggie, it's a red high drain 2000 mAh 18650 battery, and works fine in my mech, but I have to wonder why they make some batteries button top, and some flat top. I'd never run into flat top batteries before I started vaping.

What is the idea of the flat top battery? There must be a reason for that. Just curious.

It depends upon the mod and the manufacturer. Manufacturers may design their mods to accept one or the other, and sometimes it doesn't matter as they will accept either.

Provape designs the Provari to accept only button top batteries as a safety feature. This prevents the user from installing the battery in backwards, which is not a good thing to do.

If your mod comes with a user manual, read it to see which type of battery they recommend.

Well it didn't come with a manual, it's a mech, and who needs a manual for that? But no problem, I know better than put the battery in upside down and it works just fine, even without a button on the top it's pretty obvious which end is the top.
