I have a sigelei zmax on the way and plan on using the 18350 double stacked in it. My questions are 1) what is the best batteries (brand and protected or unprotected) 2) do I have to use that brands charger to charge them or is a charger that is made to charge any 18350 batts fine? There is so many threads and info on this throughout the forum I am afraid I am just lost. I don't want to blow up my first vv and hearing about batteries exploding and everything is making me a little nervous since I am having a hard time following. Also I see they have the vape safe fuse I am assuming this would be a good idea since I am wanting to eventually try the RBAs or will it hinder the performance of my zmax?

Honestly, for your first VV, particularly if you have a fear of explosions, I'd probably recommend a single 18650 rather than two 18350s. The VV feature on the Zmax will let you dial that up to a much stronger level than you'd get with (I assume) the unregulated mods you used previously.

If it's still not a massive enough jolt for you (and I suspect it will be), then I'd think about stacking, and the additional risk that comes with doing that.

So unprotected batteries for the zmax. I seen somewhere unprotected will allow the VV's to run a full potential where as protected govern it preventing from full capacity like a govern on a vehicle. Then I see that running unprotected can cause you to fry the controll head if it shorts? Just wanna make sure I protect my new baby :)

This is my first mod. I am currently using a ego-t with a ce5 and like it but I know it could be so much better which is why I am venturing into the mods :)

if it shorts out you have bigger problems then what battery is in it.
protection makes the battery longer and is not really needed in an electronic mod nowadays, i would only say use protected in a mech mod if not using a fuse.
while there are inherent dangers with all rechargeable batteries the chances of having problems with a tried and trusted brand is minimal at best. and almost no one has reported problems with AW, they are even the only battery provape recommends for the provari

there is more danger in stacking then using an unprotected.

i agree with the other post unless you know you want to stay at the 5 to 6 volt range permanently just get the single 18650. then if you feel you want the boost stack - as stacking wont make the vape stronger it will make it strong longer. and you have to be careful when using stacked batteries, if using more then 2 you need to mark them and charge them together and not mix them up for best results.

well you can def try the stacked just make sure to treat the pair as mated if you buy more. and the charger that comes with them should (maybe ) handle 650's - got a link?

in the end it is always best to have extra batteries anyways cause what are you going to do when they are charging?

Yes I had seen that they need to be rotated and maintained as dedicated pairs. And if 1 fails don't pair the other up with a diff battery. Either use it alone or count it dead. I may use them until I can get some 18650's then keep them as back up. I would wait and just get the 18650's to start but It will be here tues and I am to impatient to have a new toy and not use it as soon as I can :D

Edit - I bought it from I believe striker in the classy's it was an Xtra from one of his coop's not sure what brand it is.

These pannys are great, one of the best deals going. A lot better then the re wrapped AW imr batts.
Panasonic CGR18650CH

Vape - Panasonic CGR18650CH battery
Panasonic CGR18650CH - Rechargeable IMR Battery | Texas Select Vapor
CGR18650CH Panasonic 18650 Li-Mn-Li-ion CGR18650CH High Drain 10A Rechargeable IMR Hybrid Battery Cell

Great charger Xtar WP2 II
XSTAR WP2 II Multi Battery Charger [gv-XSTARWPII-CompleteKit] - $19.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

hat makes this high drain 18650 battery so special?

18650 3.7V Panasonic Hybrid IMR CGR18650CH rechargeable battery cell is made for high current (max. 10A) applications. 10 Amperes is more than enough to run almost any high drain (high discharge current) electronic device.

Panasonic's high capacity (2250mAh) battery will provide much longer run time than any standard IMR battery (e.g. AW IMR 18650).

It is an excellent choice for people who are looking for high drain IMR 18650 battery cells (Personal Vaporizer-Electronic Cigarette, Flashlights, or any application that requires high discharge current).

Currently the best 18650 battery for Lavatube.

If you get XTAR WP2 you need to buy 2 of these to charge 18350s.
Battery Chargers : XTAR Charger Spacers

Lol TY. I was just getting ready to ask that :). I had seen you need 2 spacers for the battery and the kit comes with two. So was gonna make sure I would need 4 :). Think I am going to go the 18650 route that was recommended and will probably add the spacers since they are super cheap just to have in case I need to go back the the others :)
