You will need to use two batteries in series to get above the 5v. You will probably want the biggest ones you can fit in your mod. I know that 2 stacked RCR123As are around 67-68mm long, same size as a single 17670 battery. I have never used cr2 batteries but I know they are smaller. Not knowing the size of your flashlight tube, you might also be able to use 18350s.

ScX93, yes, you need strong akus :) 10440 ones are almost the same size as AAA cells, so you may try them.... What is for sure is 14500 is exactly the same size as AA and it perfectly fits all the casings. With 10440 you would have to try them.
Still - 10440 is not such a strong aku - yeah, it works with atomizers, but...

what about rcr123a's i think they would fit in it perfectly. cause the 14500 is only 3.7v...

Unless you have a flashlight that is longer than the ones I have, or you have modified it so they will fit, 2 rcr123a's would be too long. They will work if they will fit. There is also the CR2/15270 that are a bit shorter. If you can fit the RCR123A/16340's, they will give you the longest battery life of these.

The voltage is the least important thing, that's why your batteries won't give you what you want. You need a current. This can be done from Li-Ion or Li-Poly akus - and not from AA nor AAA batteries.

The resistor used with LEDs is a current limiting device. LEDs will draw high current (and burn brightly for a short time) if you don't use the limiting resistor. The resistor provides a voltage drop and results in less current draw from the LED by increasing the total resistance of the circuit. The formula for current draw is I=E/R.

Although resistor is a nice and easy thing to use - it's bad, specially for batteries - as our LED will be fed with a lower and lower current with the batts constant voltage dropping. That's why it should have some kind of a typical current driver, which can help to keep the current at the satisfying level for as longest period as possible.

You can stack 2 protected cr2's for 6 volts then regulate the output to 5v with a 5v LDO regulator from Madvapes. DON'T use the 7805 as it is nearly worthless for vaping. It isn't low dropout AND it is only rated 1.5amps. As for the LED, you can wire one in parallel with the atomizer WITH the proper resistor, but I personally think LED's are annoying and never use them in my mods. Hope this helps.

Oh, FWIW, 3 AAA batteries won't fire an atty worth ant crap. Been there, ordered Li- ions, lol.
