Most battery chargers SHOULD stop charging or change to a trickle charge when the battery is full. But if the chip fails that triggers the charger to stop charging them you can have a serious problem.most of the cases you hear about batteries exploding, catching fire, etc is because the chip failed and continued to charge the battery when it was already full. While it is unlikely, it def happens occasionally so that's why I don't recommend leaving them in overnight or leaving them on after te light already turned green. Better to be safe than sorry.
