I have a few efest batteries, 2 18350 and an 18650. I use them in my magneto with my rsst usually running around .8 ohm micro coils. Is this safe? I've never felt the batteries get warm or anything like that. Obviously the 18350's don't last incredibly long on this setup, but am I in danger of hurting my batteries here? What is the amp limit on these batteries and can anyone tell me how many amps I'm drawing with this setup?
Thanks guys!

I posted a list of batteries with amp limits a while back here, post #32. The Efest 18350, if they are IMR 800mah are good to 6.4A. 0.8 ohms will draw 5A max. That's a bit close for my taste but I like more headroom. Check for your 18650's and let us know if you can't find the data. The important thing also is that they are IMR or Panasonic hybrid high drain batts.

Use the Ohm's Law Calculator to find if the coil's resistance you made will be within the safe parameters of your battery. It's best to use only 80% of your battery's amp capacity for some safe headroom.

Measure the coil's resistance with your digital multimeter. Type in the ohm in the "resistance" window. Type in the voltage you will be using (4.2v with a mech). Hit calculate. The amp draw of the coil will be displayed as "current" in amps.

Ohm's Law Calculator

Efest IMR

18650 2000mAh 10A
18650 1600mAh 30A
18650 (IMR/hybrid) 2250mAh 10A
18490 1100mah 8.8A
18350 800mah 6.4A
