Just bought a new Manhattan v2 by Continuos Current with a magnetic button, I like it, it hits hard with a new battery but I have to change the battery every 2 hours (bran new batteries) the same addy and build last 6 or so hours with my other mods and same batteries. I talked to my local vape shop and one of the guys said magnets drain the batteries and decrease there life span. He is the designer of a popular non magnet button mod in my area so he might have a bias, and I cant find anything on the internet about magnet mods draining batteries yet my mod is still not lasting. Any other reason the mod might make my batteries last as long?

There's bias, and there's flat out lying to get your business.
Magnets do not and cannot have any effect of the longevity of the batteries. They are not part of the electrical path, and serve only to return the button mechanism to it's off position.
It's like a dishonest car mechanic, plumber or a builder using your technical ignorance to put one over on you for their profit.

I'm not an electrican or an EE so I'm not sure, but the reason your Manhattan may be draining your batteries faster is it's doing it's job and efficiently pulling power out of them at a faster rate. If you run very low resistance builds on a mechanic mod it's normal for them to eat batteries.

Maybe you're vaping it more because it's new? Using time as a factor to determine how long a battery lasts is difficult at best, as I can make a single 3000maH battery last days in one mod while needing to recharge a dual batteries from another mod once or twice per day. Doesn't tell you much.

At what voltage is the battery when you pull it out of each mod to recharge? I'm also assuming you're using the same atty/build on each mod.

My test was only 2 days on each mod with same addy same build same wick. I was mostly observing how much my batteries were dead after work, with the Manhatten I was half way through my third battery when I got home with the subome inovations I was half way through my second. The ohm is at 1.9 which is pretty high for me. I wasnt paying attention to the voltage when I pulled it out, less than 4 but more than broke.

I agree with sonicbomb on this. :thumb:

What batteries are you using? Brand and model?

1.9 ohm is not an unreasonable resistance for any battery, but if you got some off brand or re-wrap batteries then you really don't know what quality they are.

You may be getting some serious voltage drop/loss with your Manhatten mod. I'm not familiar enough with that particular mod to offer more specific advice.

At what voltage are your batteries when you choose to recharge them? You referred to them as "dead" - hopefully you don't fully discharge them and have your charger "bring them back to life" as this would damage them and reduce their lifespan.

How quickly your battery drains may vary from battery to battery depending on how many recharge cycles they've gone through and how much abuse they've taken. If you want to be more empirical you should conduct your test using the same battery on the different mods from a full charge down to a pre-selected voltage before recharging. You should also try to vape with the same frequency during each trial if you can.

I think that the mod maker at the vape shop who said that magnets drain a battery and reduce its lifespan is either full of it or misguided.
