Battery Charger Progression???

With the recent surge of vape progression (rta's,box mods, etc) which battery charger is still top notch for all vape batteries? Is it still the nitecores? The only progression i've seen is a display multimeter, but it still doesn't charge any faster then its predecessor. So whats the fastest and most reliable battery charger now a days? And why hasn't there been a progression on battery charging on high end batteries, unlike cell phone chargers? Like to hear your opinoins...

NiteCore never was at the top of the pile. They have miserable quality control that results in DOA chargers or chargers that when they do go defectivre take out the charger and some times the batteries as well. I was just in one thread where someone reported their NiteCore charged batteries to 4.14 volts - but since it did that all the time it was ok. And then someone else reported that their NiteCore always charges to 4.23 volts - but since it did that all the time it was ok. :facepalm: Apparently with NiteCore "quality control" means if it fits in the box it ships.

There are only so many ways you can correctly charge a Li-On battery. Until the battery chemistry changes you can only charge them so fast before you start compromising the battery and shortening it's life span.

I've had good luck with my Efest LUV V4. That said, I think vapers could take a page or two from the flashlight folks over on the Candlepower forums and start using better chargers with test capabilities. I'm looking at the OPUS BT-C3400 that can recondition and can read mah and internal resistance.

Thanks Rickajoh. your information is very useful. I guess your right, after doing some research, nitecores are NOT the top chargers in the vaping community. They're just the most popular amongst vapors. I guess its because of their price and speed amongst other chargers bay units within that price range. Maybe the warranty also, who knows. With that being said, which is the top charger now a days under $70 (<---how much im willing to spend on a charger), for atleast 4 18650 batteries?

I've had this one for a couple months now and happy enough with it that I got a second one.

Charges very fast, unlike the chargers that I got with my zmax or vamo;
Charges via usb; I have them plugged into a 1amp/2amp usb charger.
I like the single bay chargers; no worries that one battery might interfere with the other, plus it's like having a backup.
Only $10 at fasttech.

I second xtar. There are several decent brands .... xtar is considered one of the better consumer level brands. There are much much better if your willing to go up to hobbiest grade but they are expensive.

So far 3 xtar chargers and all my batteries always come off at 4.20 exactly.I can't say the same for my nitecore which when in lucky might hit 4.16 sometimes.

The one provape sells is slow but is considered a fine charger that's nearly indestructable ( considering what they sell it fits the theme)

If you ever feel like researching brands HKJ over on candlepower forums has a site called flashlight information. And this guy tests the crap out of batteries and chargers. If he doesn't post it on his site he will post the info on CPF

I also have had excellent results with the Efest LUC 4 charger . Unless your a battery head or test batteries for a living whats the point in spending considerably more money on a charger compared to one thats safe , reasonably accurate and doesn't take forever to charge ?

I vape for Christ sake and am not willing to spend a lot more to get an extremely minor increase in longevity on a battery that cost me under $20.00 for a two pack. Nitecore and Efest are plenty good for that application.

I asked xtar. their answer: the vc4 has more information on the display. the vp4 is more heavy duty and charges much faster. at 1 amp in every bay where the vc4 is .5 amp in two bays. hence the higher price of the vp4. I like the display but want the more robust product. I doubt they can get that much amperage on usb spec.

I have a Tenergy that came with a Provari and have used it for over a year. Thought it was a great charger until I got an Xtar. One year old AW 18650 2000mAh batteries that were charged in the Tenergy routinely put out 13,000 joules between 4.2 volts and 3.6 volts. After 3 months using the Xtar, they' up to 14,400 between charges. Same usage standards and 3 months older, only difference is the charger. Tenergy is fine but IMHO Xtar is better.
