I have been told a friend that i may not be using the correct charger for my mod battery. I use an 18650 2000mA Efest but the rating on my charger reads 0.5 and 1.0 amp charging modes. Does that mean it will only charge my battery to half capacity or does the rating on the charger just relate to how fast it charges?

This is probably a really dumb question but since it was mentioned to me it has been bugging me ever since.

The only dumb question is the question you never asked...

Now on to your dumb question :)

The current of the charger only relates to how fast it will charge your batteries. Typically, for a charger with selectable current, as a guideline I use it in .5A for batteries under 1000mAh, and 1A for anything above 1000mAh... Your charger is probably fine :)

Meter them when you're done charging to find out for yourself... At the end of the charge cycle they should read around 4.2V

How long was the battery OFF the charger? I'm not sure how the Evic measures, but if 100% = 4.2v and 0% =3.4~3.5ish, then it could be just natural drain from sitting off the charger overnight. That would've put it @3.9v give or take.

As far as your op question, like dam said that's a good guide to follow. I will add, it's better to charge batteries slowly than quickly, just makes for a longer overall life of the battery. But for a 2000mah batt, either should be just fine.
