I accidentally dropped my Sony vtc 4 in a pot filled with water and I know to put it in rice I was wondering if it is safe to use once dried out?

It will be perfectly safe. Our batteries are sealed, so no water will get inside them. I dropped one into a cup of hot tea once, wiped it off and vaped it. Worked just fine :)

    Agreed.

@Grrttbrooks, if the top insulating ring is paper though it might need to be replaced. A good wipe-down, shaking/blowing out of any water under the top cap, squeezing out of any water trapped under the wrap, and leaving to dry would be recommended just in case there's something different between your battery and Ryedan's tea-infused battery. :D

    Good thinking Mooch :thumb:

I just took that piece out of one of my VTC4's and it is plastic. I didn't have to take it out of a 25R, using a dental pick I could tell it's plastic too.

OTOH, having such a close look at the VTC4 made me realize the wrapper needs to be changed so later today I'll have two CTV4's in black :)

While I agree I make a point of removing the wrap from the battery and then re-wrapping it to be certain there is no moisture trapped beneath. I prefer to err on the side of caution.

I salt water fish and use a Reo SL and it leaves everything exposed. I use AW IMR button tops and will say the salt spray gets them even when I cover the tops in noalox. Within a few days returning they hit the recycle bin due to corrosion. Swimming pool and other fresh water accidents I just let them dry a day or 2 recharge and they are fine.
