I started vaping specifically with SI around late June, early July. I've since bought extra batteries simply because I like to have more than two to go between since I was a heavy smoker and have also been a very heavy vaper. But, recently I've noticed the two original 78mm sealed autos I got with my kit have been progressively been getting worse at holding charge and when they do, they don't draw as much vapor, which is sad because smoke rings are one of the tiny joys of my life.

So, how long do volt batteries usually survive with heavy use (and regular port cleanings, as I have ocd)?

Generally speaking, lithium based batteries last about 300 charge/discharge cycles. The life of a battery can't really be expressed in terms of time because they get used at so many different rates. It is possible that recharging a lithium battery prior to it reaching the point of actually needing a recharge can extend its life, but again that gets a little subjective and may produce varying results. Charging it before it actually needs a recharge will not hurt it in any event. I guess the simple asnwer is that they last until they no longer work, LOL

Just my opinion, worth what you're paying for it, your results and mileage may vary, no warrantee or guarantee is expressed or implied.

I would totally agree with awsum140 which is the main reason I started moving away from integrated batteries-ego and mini style- to VV mods. While they may look slick and offer a decent vape, the integrated battery still has at its heart a Li chemistry battery. Even now, I end up tossing about a battery a month, but I get mine from China directly (Deal Extreme) at about a 1/3 to 1/4 of the cost of a domestic vendor. They are the same brands and all come from China anyway.

The worst part about the 300 recharges is that it has a very large margin. You can get to 300 very quickly if you are a heavy vaper and charge your batteries several times a day.

So you take your choice: the looks and convenience of an integrated battery vs. the flexibility, better performance, and lower operating costs of a mod. Of course, you have the upfront investment in the mod, not to mention carrying around something that looks to many like a pipe bomb. It's a question of personal preference.

The particular batteries in question are definitely my two favorites to use and I'd estimate that I usually charge them at least twice a day after always vaping them until they absolutely have no life left since I tend to fail a paying attention to the LED unless I feel I'm not getting a satisfactory amount of vapor from them. Nonetheless, I've got two new 78mm batteries in the mail for me right now so I guess they'll be replaced in a few days. Le sigh.

I usually put them on a charger as soon as they start producing lowered amounts of vapor. A few of mine have excellent cutoffs and just suddenly stop producing vapor completely and show they need a charge while others sort of taper off. There is a protection circuit inside the battery to prevent it from being over discharged, so in any event you won't damage them.
