hi all, I'm currently using ego type batteries for my vaping with various types of clearomizers. At this point I'm not all that interested in vv batteries but maybe at some point I'll try it out. My question is this....
I'm looking for your opinions on a battery unit other then ego type where I can charge my own swappable lion batteries. Basically I want a battery device that I can replace the batteries on when required. I'm hoping to find something that will fit typical clearo threading like the ego style. Is there ones available that are not big $$ and non vv with efficient battery life. I realize efficient is relative term based on use. I see there are many rechargeable batteries and sizes that resemble dry cell types in physical sizes like d cell, AA etc.
I want to get one for me and wifey where the replacement batteries will be easily had for sometime in the future. thanks !

i believe your referring to mod batteries, such as the 18650 and 18350. They are usually 3.7volt LiMn Chemistry rechargable batteries, chargable higher versions of CR123A's. You probably would want to go with the Joyetech ego T mod v2 (non vv), controller head, with its T-mod Battery Tubes. This set up can be had for less than 30 bucks. here's what i'm referring to : Joye EGO-T 2 MOD ...a good starting point. post if u have more questions. gl.

Most "mechanical mods" (no VV/VW menu) have a standard 510 connection but 510-to-eGo adapters are readily available and only a few bucks. Something in the "18" family of batteries would be good. There are a variety of "battery tubes" that either telescope/extend or come with extension tubes to fit 18350, 18490/500 or 18650. Battery tubes that accept the 14500 ("AA" size), 14650 batteries will be smaller in diameter, but the battery life will be shorter.

Sorry I can't provide more specifics for a starter mod. I'm sure there will be follow-up responses.

hi sawlight, yes I was only referring to dry cells as a size reference. :) cheers

I'm very sorry, this struck me as something like a thread last night.
Radio Shack sells the 18650 battery (not the best, but local) RadioShack and chargers for them.
As for a mod, well, how much do you want to spend? The Altsmoke Silver Bullet is about as good as it gets for rugged in that size, but it's rather large!
I have Altsmokes smaller version, the BB and love the size, but the 14500 batteries, same size as AA's, only run around 3-4hours.
It's cost vs. size vs. runtime, this is where vv can be a blessing. I have a Provari mini, about the same size as the BB and I get around 6hrs run time out of it. BUT, the BB is around $80, the Provari is around $160!

Think I'll go with Joye_EGO_T_2 that trixnrice suggested. For non vv which is fine for me the price is where I want to be as I want to get two. The replacement batteries seem to be reasonably priced and fairly easy to come by. I guess there are different qualities of these batteries to fit the ego T 2 and probably the same with chargers. Any idea if I would /should go with joye batteries or just a good quality spare for each unit I buy? As for chargers for this type of battery I guess it's like everything else..a charger is not a charger so need a good one..thoughts ? Ty

I got a couple of Joyetech eGo=T mods from My Freedom Smokes, the link is already posted above. I used the code GI3D4B39D996 and got 20% off my order. That brings it down to $18.36 each, and that includes the mod PLUS the battery. Pretty good deal, I think. You can charge these off your regular eGo charger, but I've heard that takes a real long time.

Another low cost mod is the Bolt:

The Bolt E-cig Mod

Uses an 18500 battery, and is rock solid! For 20 bucks, I got two. You'll have to use a 510 to eGo adapter for eGo threaded stuff, but an adapter is cheap. I really love the simplicity of both these rigs. Bigger diameter tanks look great on the Bolt, and the smaller stuff looks great on the eGo-T mod.

some awesome options here. what are your guys thoughts on the stock unprotected battery sold with the eGo=T mods? are these type of unprotected batteries something to worry about? i'm thinking not or joye wouldn't sell them in their mod..maybe i worry too much but would appreciate your thoughts on the 18650 batts both protected and unprotected like the stock joye batt in their mod and i guess certain 18650's don't fit perfect in the joye mod (flat top only fits right i think i read). may need to also look into the telescope also as that opens up some options for diff batts. Not sure if the controller heads on the the joye are better then they were at one time too..options options..but good to have options :)

thanks

I would go with a better brand of batteries. I have been very happy using AW brand batteries. Just make certain of whatever device you end up choosing, that you know what battery top it requires. Some devices only work with button top batteries, some will only accept flat top batteries.

RTD Vapor is an excellent vendor to get your batteries from; large selection, always in stock, fast delivery. RTD Vapor AW Batteries
