Please excuse my complete lack of proper lingo here, as I just happened to come across a set up that I'm happy with and haven't had a need to research beyond tanks.
I'm looking into possibly changing to the type of unit that uses the rechargeable style batteries. I assume that they charge like household rechargeables.
I'm using a protank2 with a v ego v.2 (I think that's what it's called. It's a 1100 ego style vv with pass through. I'm unhappy with how fast the battery drains.

Time to get a tube mod for 18650 lithium batteries (18mm x 65mm) like a vamo, sid, zmax, lavatube, tesla, vtr, provari, semovar, e-lvt, svd.

You will need a separate charger for the batteries - except for the e-lvt which plugs in to charge the replaceable 18650 battery.

The MVP2 ( small rectangular shaped ) is a very nice step up from an ego style battery, VV/VW, built in display, convenience & safety features, 2600 mah battery, easy to use.
The VV v3 has the same features as the above in a smaller tube like shape, but utilizes an 800mah battery so charging will be more frequent.
Both charge by way of an onboard charger using a simple wire/plug without removing the battery.

There are regulated mods like stated in the post above, and mechanical mods.
Both types use all/some of the following batteries: 18350, 18490,18500,18650, 26650
The first 2 digits represent the width in mm and the last 3 represent the length in mm.
The bigger the battery the longer it lasts, but the good thing is that you can carry a few batteries on you and switch mid way.
A 18500 battery will last around the same time as your ego and a 18650 will last twice as much.
Take under consideration that a regulated mod with a 18650 battery is long and i mean baton like long.
You will not be able to to fit any of those in a regular AA battery charger since they and wider, but there are a few dedicated chargers that most people use (search the forum)

The OP is looking for replaceable batteries - which the MVP and vv v3 are not.

Actually the OP typed "rechargeable style batteries" but they are all rechargeable and the intent is really 'replaceable' batteries.
