Hey Everyone,

I'm currently living in Peru, so frustratingly my access to vaping equipment is somewhat limited. Recently however, I bought my first mod from a vape shop here, it's a Chiyou, apparently.

I've been vaping a year or so now, and have on the whole been happy with my Vision Spiner II, but decided it was time to upgrade.

Well, they supplied me with the mod and a battery and charger, and all was going well first day. Last night I plugged the battery in to charge, but this morning it seems it was still completely empty. This led me to do a bit of research, and it seems I shouldn't be using the battery I have, as it's a little dangerous? It's a generic ICR 18650, 3.7V, 2200mAh.

I'd like to buy a better battery, but can't find anywhere that ships batteries internationally. I can buy a few here, such as Ultrafire, and I'm wondering if they would be better? If so, should I get the 3.7v? I see a lot that are 4000mAh. Will this work?

I appreciate all your help!

The Chi You appears to be a mechanical mod and you most certainly should NOT run any ICR battery in it. That battery probably has a very low continuous discharge rating, and if it failed it could do so violently (Fire/Explosion).

You need a good high drain safe chemistry battery with a known and sufficient continuous discharge rating. Baditude has an excellent blog on this issue and I have several blogs that are related too. I suggest you start here:

Ultafire batteries are not good either.

I have bought batteries from Fast Tech in the past. I stopped because they can get held up by our US Customs.
As long as you get name brands labeled as authentic, and have a safe chemistry, then you should be ok. Just make sure to use the the proper amperage for your application.

Check out the Authentic Aweite AWT batteries on fast tech.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. If I'm using a Kangertech Atomizer with dual coil, presumably the resistance will be fixed, and I won't need an ohmmeter? Or would I be wrong to assume that?
