battery noob needs help

I've searched these threads - and while I'm sure the information is there somewhere....

I need to know best place to order (an actual link would be awesome)
cr2 bats - and charger for a 5v juicebox mod
(would REALLLLLY like to be able to use it )
and
123's....???? for my Screwdriver (possibly another charger also)

DealExtreme is VERY confusing..... I found a reallllllly cheap charger and 'unprotected' bats.... don't think those are what I want.

There are no protected cr2s, you can get protected 3v cr123s on all-battery.com, but you'll need a voltage regulator or diode to drop it to 5v, peak charge on those batteries is 3.6v each, so you'll be sitting at 7.2v fully charged.

The box does have a regulator in it to drop it to 5 volts. Cr2s are the only batts that are gonna work cause its a 2aa box and cr123s will be too long. the regulator cuts out when the voltage drops below about 5.5 for the batteries and I have never had a problem with them over discharging, and I use a protected charger. I know people that have ordered from ebay, but they still come from china. you can try amazon or do a google search but your gonna pay more for sure if you want them quicker.

Some I'm finding say 3V and some 3.6V
Does it matter which I order/use?

My SD seems to work better with bats labelled 3.6V - 1000

I also have 3.6V - 880 Spiderifire bats - am I imagining that I don't get the same vapor/flave/heat from these?

I'm only finding a really cheap battery charger at DE and other websites have chargers that are 4x the price. Does it matter - which I use? Is it worth it to spend the extra and order from 2 different sources?

Here is an option you can build into a box with 2 CR123 and you don't need voltage drop. (have used it for 6 weeks now and no atomizer broken so far)
I got the batteries with the charger included at radio sharks for $18, not sure if they sell them online though, i got them at the store.

I would use the lower 3.0 volt batts since you are limiting your voltage to 5 volts anyways. the extra voltage on each drag id dissipated through the regulator in the form of heat. and you dont want too much heat ( melted box). Since the Batteries are not protected I would get a charger that is to prevent overcharging. the regulator pretty much takes care of the discharge part...

I would suggest adding a protection circuit to your CR2 batteries. Running them in series, they will produce vapor until the combined voltage is around 3v, that means they would be about 1.5v each, which is overdischarged. You wouldn't notice an overdischarged battery by looking at it - until you put it on a charger, anyhow. The resulting explosion, while pretty to watch, can be quite costly. Here is a link to a protection circuit that would offer SOME protection, even though it is designed for a 3.6 volt battery (it would, at least, prevent overdischarge and shut the battery down in case of thermal runaway).

I have used the box, With the 5 volt regulator, it wont give you any power to the atty once the voltage drops below 5.5 volt output on the batteries, so the chance of the batteries becoming over discharged with this box are very very slim...
