My new Sony VTC6 battery showed around 50 percent of battery life in my joyetech Primo SE mod (stock firmware), but then I removed the battery and put it into my xtar VC2 Plus charger and it showed 27% percent. Is this normal behavior or is there some issue behind this ? I'm pretty new to mods with removable batteries so I don't know.

Yup... batteries are 2.5v and mods usually shut down at 3.2v. My old nitecore charger starts on the second bar lol.
I guess they are, both the mod, battery and charger are pretty new. One guy told me it's not normal.
It's a shame my Xtar charger only shows battery percentage, not voltage capacity. Right before I removed this sony battery, mod showed 3.6V (50%)
btw. same thing was happening with my other older battery (LG HG2)
I only have this mod + another one with integrated battery.
Another example, if I charge the battery to 100% in my aforementioned charger, the mod will show 4.17 or 4.18V when I put the battery in. So that looks normal.
Most mods don't show battery capacity in volts.
They show what voltage is being applied to the coil at the wattage you are using.

^^ My mod actually does, when I turn off the mod, and hold minus button + fire button for 10 seconds, it shows the battery voltage.

Lithium cells don't exactly discharge linearly. The voltage will fall faster initially from full charge to mid charge and then fall rapidly to full discharge at end of charge life. The cell spends more of it's time in the mid range from 3.8v to about 3.5v where it falls rapidly to cutoff.
Charge life is highly dependent on the amperage draw of your coil and the MAH rating of the battery as well as the efficiency of the circuitry in your mod.

Hhhmmm... It makes me wonder at the calibration of the board in your mod or charger. It would probably be a defect in one or the other if so. Voltage meters are easy to build (read cheap) so there's no reason for inaccuracy to two or three decimal places. A cheap-o DMM bought for 9 bucks on a discount site still ought to be accurate to a hundredth of a volt or so. Do please test the battery and let us know. From the photos the normal display on the Primo is just a battery shaped bar graph, but if you can get an actual voltage reading out of it, it would be interesting to compare. @DaveP 's comment regarding the charge cycle life of LiIon cells is spot on: maybe the firmware thinks 27% capacity is 50% life left. Seems doubtful, but not impossible.
Yeah, as long as it is stopping at the right time it should be fine. The displays I always found useless unless they have a mAh test mode anyways.
My mods never show 4.2 usually 4.17 or .18. Mods have different battery curves for showing percentage. I got new firmware that lets me set what voltage equels what persentage. I can make 4.17 be 100% or make it say 50% or 5%. It doesn't change the behavior of the battery just what is displayed. I change all my curves because I was tired of my batteries being dead at 30% displayed life on my mod. So now after tuning it it says 0% at about 3.10 volts. So in short no i wouldnt worry about it. Your mod will probably go to 20 or 30 % then cut off it shouldn't go to 0. So take the 25% or 27% when your mod dies put them in your charger and it will be around 0%.

Percentage shown in the mod should be lower though, because the mod gives an percentage estimation based on its voltage cut off of about 3.2V, whereas the charger should have a much lower cut off at 2.5 or even 2V.
Percentage battery charge is a calculated figure so different devices can read different percentages depending on how they calculate it. Battery voltage at rest is easy to test. I have a simple digital multimeter similar to this one I use to check batt voltage out of the mod. It's cheap, it gives me a second reference to compare to the mod readings when those are available and it also allows me to take resistance readings and do work around the house. These things are all also pretty accurate for DC voltage readings. It's a great, inexpensive tool to have for general vape troubleshooting.
I have 2 mods that go to 0% or close and 4 mods that stop hitting at 20 to 30%. The 2 that go to 0% are at 100% for one hit. And the 4 that shut down at 30% display a 100% full battery for 20 hits.
Agree. FWIW, my Eleaf Invoke just started flashing both cells empty. I went into the diagnostic menu and one of the 30Q's showed 3.26v and the other was at 3.28v. Pretty close discharge curves on those cells. It was still letting me vape, but was close to shutdown.

Well it wasn't exactly 50%, it was just "in the middle of the battery meter/logo rectangle".
Anyway, I tried using a battery to see where the cut off voltage is, I've got a low battery lock when the battery went down to 3.17V in my Joyetech Primo SE. Removed it and placed the battery into my charger, it showed 0% of battery life. So my charger is probably showing usable voltage above 2.5V or whatnot. All good.
