Battery Question

I was reading on the forum where someone mentioned that the newer batteries have 4 holes for a smoother, easier draw as opposed to the older 3-hole batteries. When I was reading this, I thought the older 3-hole batteries were from last year or even last summer.

Very interesting, so I checked out my batteries to see what I've got. I received my starter kit directly from V4L on August 5th, 2010 and both white automatic batteries have *2* holes. I bought another metallic gold auto battery in October which has 3 holes, and then 1 more manual batteries (silver) and this has 4 holes.

I always thought the manual batts were my favorites since they are manuals, but now I think its because they have a much smoother and easier draw. The gold one with 3-holes works great, too. No problems with this one....a very nice draw, but the white ones almost feel clogged even after I clean the entire battery.

It seems like there have been some very significant changes in the past 3 months. I am curious what everyone else has received when they order batteries. Are they still selling 3-hole and 2 hole batteries?

**Revision! My silver manual battery with 4 holes is a generic that was given to me by a friend(not V4L). Does anyone have a 4-hole battery from V4L ? Any other 2-hole batteries out there except mine? My white auto batts that came with the starter kit have 2 holes and are NOT generic. They are V4L genuines.

All of mine are 3 hole, all ordered in last 2 weeks. I bought 1 xl manual, 2xl auto, 2 xl regular and 2 xl shorty.

All of my recent XL manuals have been 4 holes including the newest camo green XL I received in October of this year. Older manuals from spring 2010 were all 3 hole, several others I got mid summer were 4 hole. The 4 hole versions have very good air flow, perhaps too light for some, but just right for me. I don't use the older 3 hole versions as I find the draw too tight.

The autos generally cannot afford to allow generous air flow, as they require more suction to engage the vacuum switch. This is why most autos have only 3 holes or less and subsequently, tighter draw. That is my understanding, others may have observed variations to this. I have never seen a 2 hole battery from V4L, but my guess is they produce better auto switching performance.

Edit: Sorry, my bad, thanks for catching my error Sallyem. All my batteries have 3 holes; the newer ones are not spaced evenly though, and I miscounted. There is a definite difference in draw between my old / spring manuals than the ones I got mid summer to present, which must be due to the center hole being larger on the newer batts.

I got a standard and a shorty last week - both are manual and both have 3 holes. I have an XL on the way - curious to see how many holes it has! LOL

I have no problems at all with the ones I have - very pleased all around with V4Life!

Hi jam!! I just checked again....and I have newer XLs. I really don't have ANY with four holes. ???
P.S. I have never had a two-hole battery either.

OMG, I can't count! You are right of course, I have never received a battery with 4 holes - unless you count the center one too

Divots. I call them notches; there have always been 4 notches in the cartos, which is partly why I was confused as well.

I am having a problem with all of my auto shorty batteries. I started vaping in September this year, and the first 2 batteries I bought with my kit were manual batteries. I then ordered/bought 2 auto batteries. These are the older style auto shorty with the larger center hole and 3 larger vent holes. These 2 batteries hold a good charge for the most part but I have to mess with the center post after every cart change. The center post gets stuck down and does not spring back up, so it needs to be pushed back up after every cart change. One of these batteries no longer works correctly, it goes on and off when it wants to whether using it or not. Then, in October, I ordered 2 new light green auto shorty batteries. The first one I received was DOA and V4L replaced it. These are the newer style auto shorty batteries with the smaller center hole and 3 smaller vent holes. At first they worked great all of the time. Never needed to mess with the center post, held a good charge, and lasted a while before they went dead. Now, neither of them hold a good charge and only last a few hours after charging them before they go dead, and I am not a constant vaper. I mostly vape on my long drive to work and maybe a few times at home before I leave. I am not sure if these batteries are part of a bad batch or what.

If your Shorties last a few hours, that's great! I use standard batteries and I only get 2.5-3 hours out of a battery. Here are the specs...

XL: 380 mah
Standard: 280 mah
Shorty: 160 mah

Shorty batts should last around half as long as a standard batt. But the post shouldn't have to be adjusted every time. Contact V4L. They are the best at standing behind their products.
