It also depends on the resistance of your atomizer/cartomizer.

3.3 volts on a 3.0 ohm cartomizer is 3.6 watts of power
3.3 volts on a 2.0 ohm cartomizer is 5.5 watts of power

The second will obviously drain the battery faster than the first, even though it's the same voltage - it's using more power out of the battery. I usually run my 2.5 ohm cartos at 4.0 volts, yielding 6.5 watts, and the shorty batteries last me all day. Some people like to vape much higher power than that, and their battery life will be shorter than mine, whether they're doing it with a low resistance atomizer (like a 1.5 ohm) or a higher voltage.

It's math geek stuff, which intimidates people, but it's actually pretty easy.

Volts squared (volts times volts) divided by ohms.

3.3 x 3.3 = 10.89
10.89 / 2.0 = 5.445 watts

10.89 / 3.0 = 3.63 watts

I rounded for the answer up above, because I really don't think you need to go out to the third decimal point unless you're a little... um. Let's go with "fussy".

Hmm, so my 1.5ohm LR 306 @ 3.5 is using like 8.17 watts, very cool :)

Yea yesterday I got curious because my provari started flashing at my around 1pm, but it kept going until 10pm (when I stopped) without dying, so ... party on :p

Will any 18650 fit?

I've been testing 2 different batteries this week. I can tell you this for certain:

I have used an IKV V2 carto exclusively all this week. It's 2.5 ohms. I vape it at 4.4 volts. I vape heavy all day long - even at the office.

Having said that, I get:

10-11 hours on the AW IMR 1600 mah batteries before the light starts flashing. It flashes for quite some time. I don't know how long, as I've never had one completely drain before I go to bed which is when I put 'em in the Pila charger.

5-6 hours on the Ultrafire BRC 3000 mah batteries. Completely dead at 7-8 hours.

This is my observation after repeating this test twice this week.

Thanks! Interesting how half the mah can last twice as long.

Those ultrafires aren't suitable for this mod. They are 0.5C and just won't cut it (the reason for the poor results). You will find that if you use 18650 that can pump out 4+ amps they will give considerably more vape time than the IMR.

I have to ask -- what other batteries fit that criteria?

3.7V 1600ma at 4A = 2.5C discharge. I'd want 3C+ for a safety margin and longivity.
3.7V 2600ma at 4A = 1.5C discharge. 2C should be fine.

Where can we get them, that will fit the ProVari ??

I'm lucky in that I can solder a nub onto any of the flat bats. I use the Panasonic 2900 for when I need really long vape time but the AW 2600 and the Tenergy 2600 also fit the bill.

I did the same test, with the AW IMR of 1600ma i get about 12 hours of heavy vaping, but with brand new Trusfires of 2500ma I get around 7-8 hours

With the Provari volt output set below 5v the trusfires work fine, with lower run time but they work, but when I try to use the provari over or around 5v, sometimes it shutdown and turn on again.

It appear that the current draw at over 5v kick the protection on the trusfires. I did the test only because I had a pack of brand new Trusfires, but normally I use the AW for normal vaping, I am very happy with the performance of AW IMR batteries.

I'm happy with the AW IMR's in my Provari as well. All day is all day. That's all I had hoped for anyway...
