from what i've read and seen, no it doesn't appear to be "protected". the fully protected batteries usually have a slight indented ring around the negative end (not just the obvious indent on the positive side) from where the protection chip or "wafer" is sandwiched between the (-) contact and battery core.

I see what you mean now, looking at my protected 14500's. They clearly have the indented ring at the negative end. I'll assume these are not, thanks again!
