On the positive tip of my AW 1850's I'm starting to see some black spots on the nipples, as if the firing pin is scraping off a little of the finish. These batts are about a year old as lately the hits have been a little inconsistent they do meter out okay though. Do these black spots mean time to replace? Thanks.

Is it smudge that rubs off? If so, then I suspect the Naolox from the firing pin... If not, as long as they meter and aren't dying quickly after a charge, I wouldn't think they need to be replaced. A sign of a dying battery is that they can charge up to par but then they don't hold a charge for very long under load.
have those too, think its scratses from the firing pin from the metal mini, sometimes mixed in with noalox. never noticed any effect on them. even the new batts have them in a couple of days.
