I just got my vamo in the mail today, out came with two eh imr 800 mah 18350 batteries. When i use just one in short configuration, all is well, but when i stack them, my voltage it's reading about eight volts, and it just seems too overpowered. Is there a way to use these batteries in parallel rather than in series? (or vice versa, i can't remember which is which) or am i stuck in short configuration until i can grab an 18650?

Vivi with 1.8 reading at 2. And even when i bring it down to 3.2 volts I'm still getting a burnt taste

I've vaped my Vivi Nova 1.8's without any problems in stacked mode. It's possible your Vivi Novas aren't wicking quickly enough. If you are using thick juice try adding a drop or two of distilled water to the juice in your VN tank.

IMO ViviNova's are impossible to use with high-powered mods. I couldn't get the burnt taste to disappear even using a traditional Lavatube on the lowest 3.0 volt setting. I use a simple tank system with Smoktech 1.5 DCC carts...almost never get a burnt taste even vaping at 6 Volts.

If you don't like a hot big vape 1.8 single is too low for use with a vamo...or most mods.

I vape rba's 1.5 ohm in mode1 at 8.5 watts.... but I like a big hot vape

I use 2.0 ohm Smoktech single coil cartos at 7.5-8 watts without issue... that's around 4.2v? Lots of vapor but not a hot vape, by any means.

I also vape some 1.8 ohm bridgeless atty's around 8.5-9ish watts and that is mildly warm.

Efest 18650 IMR 3.7v High Output 2250 button top.
