Hello,
A former long-time smoker I switched to vaping a few months back and am completely addicted. Kind of a hobby now, so I am learning as much as I can. I started out on the eGo systems as I suppose many do but moved on to mods quickly and gave the eGo's to my wife :) I currently have an SVD and a Bolt, with a K100 on the way. I use 18650 batteries from Panasonic (protected) since I want all my mods to use the same battery. So here are my questions: is it important to rotate batteries so you don't use one more than any other? I generally use the device until the battery completely runs down and then replace it with a fresh battery. Is that a bad idea? If I am using protected batteries, which I am, do I need to use a safety fuse with my Bolt and when I get my K100?

I am sorry if my questions are silly, but navigating all the information online can be somewhat confusing sometimes.

I'm assuming the protected Panasonic batteries you are using are ICR, not IMR or high drain batteries and that you are not using sub-ohm coils. The SVD being a VV PV would benefit from IMR batteries.

Lithium ion batteries last for a number of charge/discharge cycles, at least 300 if you treat them right. If you put more cycles on one battery, all other things being equal, it will merely wear out faster than the others. The most obvious sign a battery is wearing out is less time between needing to be recharged.

I generally use the device until the battery completely runs down and then replace it with a fresh battery. Is that a bad idea?

There is a lot of good information on how to prolong the life of lithium batteries at Battery University here. In a nutshell, if you do not charge all the way and do not discharge all the way, you gain battery life. Have a look at the data and you can decide for yourself how important this is to you.

If I am using protected batteries, which I am, do I need to use a safety fuse with my Bolt and when I get my K100?

I suggest you use IMR, high drain batteries in mechanical mods. These batteries are considered safer than protected ICR batteries for mechanical mods. IMR's typically do not have protection circuitry in them. If you are not going to be using sub-ohm coils, I suggest you also use a safety fuse.

If you do use protected ICR batteries in these mechanical mods, I would use a safety fuse also.

And there is no such thing as a silly question!
