No, you still need to use the correct high drain IMR / hybrid chemistry batteries with a sufficient CDR to support the power ranges you intend to vape.
With multi battery power devices you need to use matched/married sets.

A regulated mod provides some protection, but will not protect you from drawing too many amps from a battery.
Calculate the amp draw at the cells minimum charge usually abut 3.2 volts and choose a accordingly.
