I went for a ride with a buddy in his Jeep, been out about an hour and back about 20 min when we heard this loud "BANG"! It was like a shotgun going off! We went and looked at the Jeep, the 12v battery had blown up! Put another battery in it, everything was fine!
I don't care what you do, how you do it, how safe you think you are, there is NO SAFE battery! They are a storage device holding a lot of energy and must be respected!

Sometimes voltage regulator will fail and cause batt to overcharge and pop the top. Can use DMM to verify batt not charging over 15 volts.

It is really about taking responsibility for your actions. I believe the only batteries that explode are due to extreme neglect.

Maybe I should rephrase, I believe the only battery explosions that make the NEWS are due to extreme neglect. LOL

And also if your mod is malfunctioning and causes the battery to explode, then the mod was neglecting the battery.
And improper use/using it outside of what it was designed for, is neglect.

But yes I guess ya'll are right, you could get the best, safest, & expensive battery. But it could just be defective from the factory. But that is a risk with everything, can't go through life in a bubble.
Much more dangerous to just drive your car to work everyday.

Concur.

I'd like to see the statistical chance of batt injury. Probably real low. The counterfeit ones may increase risk.
