Battery (Sony 18650 30A) got very hot, do I need to chuck it?

So I bought a new Nemesis clone from FT and if anyone else has this mod they may have run into this problem. When I change the battery it (the mod) frequently does not screw back together properly. (and I am using all IMR unprotected MNKE, Efest or Sony) Well the other day I dropped in my Sony 18650 30A battery and as I was screwing it back together it got stuck. It would not screw down or screw off and like an idiot I wrenched it real hard to unscrew it. Well needless to say this caused the mod and my battery to get extremely hot. I was able to quickly get everything opened back up, but it was obvious the battery had shorted and over discharged. Anyway, my question is do I need to scrap this battery now or is it safe to still use? (I ask that cause I tired using it and it is obviously pushing to much power to my atty's causing them to taste like crap) Any help would be appreciated

I'm still not understanding how it shorted. THAT is the problem. The battery can be replaced. However, make sure you fix the problem that shorted it in the first place. Or you'll just keep wrecking batteries (in best case) or worse.

If it's above 2.5 volts let it rest and (at your own risk) you MAY wish to charge it. However if it got real hot, or you don't want to watch a charger for a few hours (don't leave it unattended)...just chuck it. There's more options with certain chargers....but IDK if it's worth the risk to even get into it if it's below 2.5v.
