Just got my two batteries from Origin vape. Was expecting a stamp on them, but there is a sticker, could the stamp be underneath? This is what I purchased...LG HG2 18650 3000mAh Battery - Origin Vape and this is what I got. Sorry if I'm being paranoid, this is my first battery purchase.

Thank you. Will leave the sticker on for fear of ripping the plastic.
It shouldn't pull off the wrapper (but good thinking on your part). What I hear about the stickers is by law, they have to use them for any batteries that takes a ride by air. By ship, they don't need or use stickers.

Stickers started showing up adout 6-8 months ago. Several Larger Vendors are now shipping with the sticker, meaning faster rotated stock and likely Air Freight delivery to USA.

My Orbs came with.

You can't slap a sticker on high drain battery's and it subsides to not being deemed "dangerous goods" anymore for air freight.
The only thing that sticker signifies is the composition and mAh and in case you don't know hg2's composition is INR, not IMR like on Bonnie's sticker, of which I'm only assuming she purchased hg2's. the voltage is useless, most manufactures ship @ 30 - 40 % charge but how would the inspector know ?

Does this mean my battery is not safe to use? I'm so confused. :(

It means I would email them ( origin ) and ask why your HG2 has an IMR sticker, the people who manufacture LG battery's don't make these kind of mistakes, I personally would use the ones you have just gotten and just chalk it up as a learning curve and next battery purchase would be from my list.

I just googled this & found nothing about individual stickers on a battery.
Found plenty of law about hazardous labels on the carton. Some by request of pilots.
I don't know what to tell BonnieC. 2 months ago i purchased 4 Sony VCT5 from Orbatronics. With the stickers. Nothing bad happened,,there is a niggling anger..

I just ordered hg2's from orb last month and had no stickers, now I'm not stating that if your cells wrap is covered with a sticker there counterfeit, what I am saying is I've never seen the chemical composition on the sticker, either way the sticker peels right off easily and the numbers will be underneath.

Contacted Origin Vape and got this response.
Hi Bonnie,

Thanks for your order! If you peel the sticker, you will find the LG HG2 lettering. Rest assured, we only deal with authentic LG cells. We go above and beyond to ensure we only get authentic batteries. We often send our batteries to Mooch for testing. He is a battery expert, here is a link to his blog:

Also please bear in mind that those stickers are used for importing purposes only. It is part of a long-standing order of shipping batteries from overseas, having to do with customs declarations. The sticker may be generic, and they are almost always different.

Please don't be concerned about the sticker. It's quite common to find these days, and has no bearing on the question of authenticity. I also order batts only from the 3-5 most reputable vendors listed repeatedly in this forum, and stickers are a meaningless and random occurrence for the consumer.

Here's FAQ from one of those frequently referenced reputable vendors:

MY BATTERY DOESN'T HAVE ANY OF THE MANUFACTURER MARKINGS ON IT, JUST A CHEAP STICKER THAT SAYS THE MODEL NAME. DOES THAT MEAN IT'S A FAKE BATTERY?
This is a common question, with a simple answer. You simply need to take off that sticker. The sticker is only there to help the batteries be quickly inventoried and/or go through customs as quickly as possible, and we treat it as part of the packaging for the consumer to remove like most online sellers do. All the markings you're looking for are probably just covered by the sticker.
